Black_Hart: You must've screwed up your build. I played a dwarven fighter in the OC and he did pretty well, I must say. Some fights were hard, but he did the job.
Maybe. I don't remember very well now, but I'm pretty sure I was fighting something that was just immune to my weapon, and I would have to reload a save from a bit earlier, look for a better weapon, then do the dungeon again... and I just didn't feel like doing that.

Random_Coffee: I feel the same way. Replayed Baldur's Gate dozens of times, but I still have a few of the old OG DnDs to play. I've started NWN many times, but never got very far in it. Icewind Dale 2 has also been barely started, but Planescape Torment is the one I REALLY should play through all the way..
I'll be honest, I never really was a great fan of any D&D computer game I can think of. I like them for the "flavour" but not so much the mechanics. I don't think D&D really works that well for computer games (maybe if you're playing multiplayer, which I don't). So I'm this one, lone loony guy who had way more fun with the Drakensang games than with Baldur's Gate or NN.

Breja: NN is one of those games I constantly have in the back of my mind, nagging me to give it another try. I got stuck and bored early on in Act 2 and never finished it. But I would probably have to start over from scratch, and I really don't feel like doing the first act again...

I seem to remember it was possible to start with an overpowered pre-made character, something like level 15. I wonder if that would be a good idea? I mean, I know it's kind of cheating, but it would probably make the game much faster :D

Time4Tea: The OC for NVN is basically rubbish. It's uninspiring and was hastily/sloppily put together so they could push out something with the original game. I also got bored quickly and have never bothered to finish it. Honestly, it's probably one of the worst single-player RPG campaigns I have played.

The two official expansions are much better. I started playing Shadows of Undrentide about a year ago and I'm probably over halfway through. I haven't played Hordes of Darkness, but it is apparently excellent. I would highly recommend anyone to skip the OC and just play the expansions.
You are glossing over "Darkness over Daggerford" and "Tyrants of the Moonsea" there.

Those modules were written by the same person who wrote this new release.

The first one is very funny and I would wholeheartedly recommend it. Too bad a lot of people stop at "Hordes of the Underdark". If you like it, or prefer the darker atmosphere of the lands ruled by the Zhentarim, then "Tyrants of the Moonsea" may be something to check out.

"The Wailing Death" has got a bad reputation but it had some really cool quests in Chapter 4 where you have to be a lawyer (sadly GOG's version does not get the Steam achievement for getting all members of the jury to come to a unanimous verdict) and another where you use time travel.

The Blades of Netheril was the title of a planned series, with Doom of Icewind Dale being only the first part. No idea if the fact that the series' title is not present anymore has any meaning with regard to the initial plans or not.

paladin181: Why bother releasing a complete edition if you are going to keep adding content? Complete doesn't mean what people think it means anymore.
From what I know, there were not going to be any further DLCs because Hasbro didn't want Beamdog to continue releasing any. This DLC was originally planned as a free module by Luke Scull, the author of the Tyrants of the Moonsea DLC (with some backers' funds from Kickstarter or similar). Apparently something changed, the module took much more time than initially foreseen and maybe also became much richer in content, and it seems that they were able to convince Hasbro to allow paid DLC releases again? That being said, NWN has always been kind of an ongoing process, with the community working on it for more than 20 years, and new content becoming available for it after all this time is a good sign and very welcome in my book. The complete edition was already more than complete and absolutely worth it in terms of "bang for your buck", and anyone that doesn't agree with that likely won't be happy with Doom of Icewind Dale either and could safely skip it.

Breja: I was playing a fighter, and while I found it fun in the first chapter, I'm pretty sure in chapter 2 I started to figure out he kinda sucked.
IMO the original campaign AND picking a fighter character are two of the most tedious ways to play NWN. If you want something versatile with many options that's still not hard to play for a new player, I recommend cleric. You could still wear armor and fight in melee, buff yourself with spells that e.g. improve your strength and weapons, summon creatures, turn undead, heal, and you even get some mighty attack spells later on. You'd also not be quite as dependent on resting, since you can still play a cleric like a fighter, just a fighter with a lot more options. And you'd get access to Persuade as a class skill, meaning you could also try and handle conversations better than a pure fighter. Yes, it's a pretty overpowered class but fun.

The "forum discussion" button on the "Doom of Icewind Dale" store page links to the "Neverwinter Nights 2" forums?

EDIT: So it's for both games? Then why isn't the first game listed at the top as part of the related games?

Having more NWN is always great.

The only downside I see in this official dlc is that there's no new classes. The game really could use few more bases and plenty of prestiges.

You know this game has an editor anyone can use? So new content is released anyways. Sue those people as well!

Because GOG half-assed that, as they do a lot of things. They might well have used some automated thingy to add those "games related to this forum", but never got around to the step where some actual humans manually double-check the work of the automated whatsis.

I mean, leaving aside the fact that the word "complete" doesn't occur in the name of any packaging of NwN
'02 that has been sold on GOG (nor is it used as such in the product description on the current Digital Deluxe Edition store page)...they have, at least once in the past, replaced the DDE with a new version including newer DLC; they could well do the same again, and probably will at some point. (Though on GOG, from what I remember, it once took more than a year between the release of one or two DLC and the updating of the for-sale bundle to include it/them.)

They probably just felt (rightly, I'd say) that the full, official title would be a little unwieldy to head off the store page. Kind of like how we don't see (serious) mention of Dungeons & Dragon: The Forgotten Realms: Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, or Star Wars: Dark Forces: Jedi Knight III: Jedi Academy. At a certain point, you've gotta chop out some of the extraneous bits of lineage/inspiration from the title.

Am i the only one not seeing this as a campaign ingame? Cant choose it no matter what i do (tried downloading offline installer and installing it manualy).

Update: just noticed that Doom of Icewind Dale actually downloads the installer for Dark Dreams of Furiae. Its also strange the installer seems to be for an older version of the base game?

It's not, NWN was made with the Aurora Engine, not the Infinity Engine.
Does this mean the Deluxe edition is going to get updated again?

I'm glad to see it here, but I guess there will never be a complete edition lol. I already have one receipt that says "-old" and now maybe the new one will be renamed to "-old 2" or something heh.

Looking on GOG Db, the current iteration of the bundle is already the third one. The current one would have to become "-old 3" :D
