RelicMaster: Looks...odd.
I agree. The game looks very interesting to me, but I feel very conflicted in whether or not I want to purchase it, my reasons being that I have no idea what the actual game play looks like, which I wish the developers would have made more clear and obvious. I can't really know if I will enjoy it or not. Another issue is that the game seems over-saturated in excessive amounts of "bloom" which is a certain kind of graphics option that makes things look more bright and glowing and fuzzy. bloom looks nice in some places, but often causes a lot of people to get very bad headaches. Until I know that there is a graphical settings option to disable the bloom (some games never include this option) I can not in good faith even attempt to consider purchasing the game, even though I LOVE the idea of an anime-video game.
FrodoBaggins: Here's your achievements.
- Talk to Character X 20 times
- Carry 15 Inventory items
- Help 3 characters in need
- Stay on the same screen for 10 minutes
I'm sure you can think of other things to add to that list.
Patias: Wow, look what we have here, a traditional hater of achievements. If you want to attract attention, pay for an ad on a billboard.
<3
Having an opinion somehow equals hate? ...................what....? O_O ?
FrodoBaggins: Explain to me why you can't just think of your own achievements, if that's what you like?
ZFR: Because the purpose of them is not to make your own achievements but to get achievements that the designers put in. And you now that fully well. The purpose of your post was simply to disparage those users who like them.
I personally never look at them, mainly because I don't use game clients. I don't know why people like them or why they feel there is a need for the designer to provide them instead of "writing their own" as you put it. But I do know that people like different things. My friend likes birdwatching. I think it's completely boring and I tell her that. Yet when she complains to me that she spent three hours looking and caught nothing I don't tell her "well why don't you just look at a photo and mark it in your log book. It's the same thing, right? hahaha".
But again, to each their own. If writing such posts is what makes you feel better, then go ahead.
I'm just saying but having an opinion isn't automatically some vast conspiracy of a crime to "disparage those users who like them" and to be completely fair, your friend that likes birdwatching in your story reacted to your calm and reasonable opinion that you think "bird watching is boring" in a much more polite and reasonable way than everyone seems to be reacting to FrodoBaggins for simply sharing their own opinion. And yes, of course you don't just respond and tell her what you said you would not tell her, but essentially everyone is doing this to FrodoBaggins while simultaneously accusing them of doing that same exact thing.
When FrodoBaggins posted their list of achievements, that wasn't actually a joke, which everyone seems to have missed. I have played games with achievements for many years and that list was actually shockingly 100% accurate, which actually ties into the point that they were making. /wooooooooooooooosh-moment as they say when a joke flies over and is missed.
