Coming of Age.

Myst III: Exile and Myst IV: Revelation are now available DRM-free, only on GOG.com.
The saga is now complete so check out our Myst Sale with the rest of the series -now fine-tuned for improved Win10 stability, among other things- going for up to -65% off until July 8, 10pm UTC. Goshdarn classics, the lot of them.

Myst III: Exile takes place 10 years after Riven, when an enigmatic man breaks into Atrus' study and steals the Releeshahn book as part of his plan to exact revenge upon the wise explorer's sons.

The final showdown between Atrus and his malicious sons takes center stage in Myst IV: Revelation. We must once again travel to wondrous worlds and conquer brain-twisting puzzles in pursuit of Atrus' scheming offspring. As in the rest of the series, our choices will dramatically change the final outcome of this battle of wits.

Very nice GOG, you're on a roll lately :D Escape From Monkey Island, Shivers, complete Myst series, all within a few days! Thanks for granting extra life to great adventure games.

PS. Attention laptop users (mostly): please check Myst III: Exile's game page where it says that Intel GPUs are not supported!

Awesome! I think $10 per game, or at least Myst 3, would have been more appropriate, but still great to see them here for sure. Thousands more votes completed. GOG is on a roll.

Uh oh, some of the "Myst 25th Anniversary Collection" Kickstarter backers are not going to be happy that they get to play the digital re-relase of Myst 3 and 4 later than GOG customers.

Wait a second, I am a backer myself. Personally I don't think it's the end of the world, but I don't think this is a particularly smart move by Cyan either, especially after pulling this exact same thing once before with the Obduction Kickstarter.

I wonder what went on behind the scenes. Did GOG help with some of the technical aspects of the re-releases and got a period of exclusivity in return? That would actually make sense to me.

Actually, GOG did get involved in the re-release process. I remember reading it on the Kickstarter page of the Anniversary collection.

edit: Yep, I just confirmed it. Straight from the Kickstarter page: "With the help of our friends at GOG.com and CodeWeavers the games have been upgraded to run on Windows 10 and macOS 10.13 (High Sierra). This Kickstarter will provide the entire Windows collection in a special exclusive package, but the updated versions of the games will also make their way to digital download services, starting with GOG.com, as automatic updates."

Now - nothing. But before this release both franchises were incomplete. Now only Dead Space is still incomplete from these two franchises.

There's no superior version coming later, the GoG versions are the ones included in the 25th anniversary collection. They might update them more, but any updates will be available to GoG customers and collection backers alike.

I'm sure they'll go on sale eventually, but I suspect 3 and 4 are full price now to avoid totally upsetting the people who purchased the collection through Kickstarter. Would be a bit sad if the non-backers got a substantially better deal than the backers at this early stage.

And no, I haven't yet played any of the Myst games. I decided to start with the "Guest" games first, so I already finished 7th Guest before, and have barely started 11th Hour. After that I could try out the Myst games, I guess.
I replayed 7th Guest a few years back after having lay dormant in my library for well over a decade. This led me to play 11th Hour for the first time and boy are they both fantastic games. Having never played any Myst games either, with the exception of a demo disc for the original game that came with a PC Gamer magazine I received, perhaps I should follow your lead and move on the these titles. :)

Ok, that all makes sense.

The only remaining problem is that backers get the games later. Cyan should simply offer to send GOG codes to Kickstarter backers now (and Steam codes later) to avoid backlash, problem solved.
