Outrunning oppression.

Mirror's Edge™, the energetic free-running action game with the striking visual design, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 50% launch discount.

The gleaming, utopian appearance of the city cannot fool Faith. She's seen how things are run around here, with everyday activity being monitored closely and sensitive pieces of information constantly changing hands high above the oblivious citizens. Now her sister is being framed for a crime she didn't commit and Faith must employ every bit of her resourcefulness and parkour talents to run the rooftops, avoid the authorities, and expose the truth.
The revolutionary first-person running mechanics and intense hand-to-hand combat make Mirror's Edge™ into a spectacular action romp, boosted by its pristine aesthetics and unmatched sense of flow. Leap, climb, race, and slide across the dangerous cityscape, always staying mindful of your surroundings and occasionally being ready to flee rather than fight, when the situation grows desperate.

Navigate Faith through high-speed chases atop the city's skyscrapers and discover what's hiding behind the Mirror's Edge™, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 50% discount will last until September 29, 12:59 PM UTC.

PaterAlf: Do you really think that people in Poland earn much more money than people in Australia or Great Britain? Or that Russia is the poorest country in the world?
avatar
JKeift: I have no idea about Poland, but I do know that games' regional prices in Russia have plummeted as a direct result of the ruble's extreme devaluation. Obviously, there have been devaluations in many other countries in the past years, but few other nations offer such a huge market. This is why publishers are willing to set very low prices for Russia. Otherwise, they would be losing hundreds of thousands of purchases from that region.

At least that's my understanding of the whole situation.
On the reverse, publishers jack the price up ie Australia tax on games etc here just because they think we can afford it (not really, EVERYTHING is more expensive here as a result of better wages etc... EA and Activision has always been the worst defenders).....

anyway Mirror's Edge. Not my type of game..
Unexpected. Great release!
Count me into the crowd of people hoping for Mass Effect. Just 1 would be fine too, it's the best one anyway. And there's no reason why it shouldn't have Bring Down The Sky. As for Pinnacle Station... Eh, it's OK, but not really all that spectacular, just a prototype for ME3 multiplayer. I wouldn't mind if it wasn't there.

As for the price, I don't care, DRM-free is the base criterion for me. If it aint DRM-free, it doesn't exist nowadays.
Oh, and if you want to see all the region pricing on Steam, you can see here: https://www.steamprices.com/eu/app/17410/mirrors-edge (comparison tool at the top under "regions") So it's very different across the board there too.
I love this game.

Leroux: It's a common misconception that regional pricing is about offering fair prices according to average incomes; it's actually about offering profitable prices according to what the customers in the region will likely be willing to pay before resorting to piracy or other products instead. These spending habits can be dependent on average income, so that the prices will appear fair and appropriate as well, but it's not a given. There are poor countries with low average income that have to pay the same prices as countries with high income, not because it's fair, but because their markets aren't as interesting to the publishers.

Mind you, I've got no problem with games being cheaper in South America or Eastern Europe. I'm just pointing out that fairness is not the main idea behind the prices, and some countries are incidentally treated more "fair" than others.

JKeift: I understand what you mean and I agree. My use of "fair" was not really referring to altruism, obviously companies are not doing this for charity or out of compassion. But indeed, for third world markets where publishers can turn a significant profit (Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, etc.), they seem willing to set lower prices that consumers in the region will see as "fair" (or reasonable, if you will) and therefore spend their hard earned money instead of resorting to piracy.
People from around the world!
I wish Steam follow this same practice; In Argentina We have the same prices like in USA... Full prices are just unpayable for us.
holy shit balls .... now this is one game I would never have expected to see on GOG.
So much about price, and nobody moans about lack of linux? *frown*

Although recently many of the "linux" games are Unity engine with game coded in C# running over Mono, which in better case makes me shiver, in worse case it doesn't work at my machine at all (like system shock remake demo, producing only black screen).

So... whatever... :/
high rated

AFAIK there's no Linux version of this and since it was released in 2009 there's little chance of one being made.
Cool. Bought my first game on GOG in more than 2 months.

snowkatt: so hell has frozen over ?

sims 2 or 3 any time soon ?
They better not!...I just bought three or four of the expansion packs on Steam a day or two ago :P

Seriously though, I'd love a "complete/deluxe/game of the year/etc" edition for The Sims 3.
Fantastic game people, highly recommended.

I snagged a disc copy before everything turned to steam sh!t.

But not on GOG. Here Australians almost ever get a discount on the regional priced games. But I agree on the point that better average income doesn't automatically mean that you have more money on your hand. Publishers tend to forget that the average expenses can be very different as well.
Great solid quality release, many thanks to gog and ea!

It's not like the game ever got released for Linux. I'd like as many games like this to be sold for Linux pre-configured with Wine, but currently that's nothing that you can expect.
The price is a catastrophe, of course.
