Empathy simulator.

Mini Metro, a brain-wracking metro simulator, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 10% launch discount.

Sometimes, the most complicated things come in the simplest packages. Mini Metro, a strategy public-transit simulation, is a staple of simple brain-wracking glory.
In its simplicity, Mini Metro is beautiful and to the point - a simple map dotted with shapes and distinctly colored lines is something we've all seen before while traversing major cities, and it all evokes a very familiar sense of nervousness and confusion. Then, more stops, more people, begin to show up.

It's right about then that you should be hit with a sudden wave of empathy for both: the frustrated passengers waiting and changing lines, as well as the people tasked with the weight of figuring out and pleasing the flowing masses.

Despite being a relatively simplified simulation of real life mechanics, Mini Metro gives you a taste of the urgency and sophistication of transit planning. If you can figure it out and survive, you may just find yourself with a newfound understanding for that one really stupid transfer you have to make on your way to work.

Check out the developer's website for a playable taste of the full game.

IAmSinistar: Good deal, mate! Let us know what you think of it too.
Played the intro map, very interesting. Have to really pay attention on this one, only made it 39 days.

Things start to get pretty tricky pretty quickly. :)

It does, I like these type of games :)

IAmSinistar: If you like abstract puzzlers, I'd say this is one to get.
Thanks for the write-up, IAmSinistar. =) It sounds like the perfect little gift for a friend of mine.

tinyE: You know, they should really make a DLC for one of these games based on the movie "The Taking of Pelham 123".

The original version not the John Travolta remake piece of shit.

CharlesGrey: That really was a crappy film, but I had no idea it was a remake. And since we're on that topic, what's with all the bad remakes lately?
See the original. Robert Shaw is the bad guy. Timeless!

dinopoloclub: We do have a partial crowdsourced Greek translation in the game. It's missing a few strings that were recently added (you can see the full list of translated strings at https://www.transifex.com/dinosaur-polo-club/mini-metro/, and fix them up if you'd like!). A few of the existing Greek translations are a little long, so in the city selection screen they overlap with some of the UI elements.

We have professional translations only for English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Polish, and Russian—all others are crowdsourced.
You're from the team behind Mini Metro, right? :-) I took a look at the link you attached and I have a small question:
How come you posted in the game's info that Turkish is available, while 16 strings are still untranslated? Because, with the same mindset, you could have said that Greek is ready too, despite 27 strings being untranslated.

On another note, I joined the greek translation "team" and I'm trying to contribute to a few untranslated terms and also shorter versions of existing ones that will still do the work (since you said you have problems with the length of some sentences).
Anyways, hope your game sells well and I also wish that enough people will help you with the greek version so you can add it to the game as well!

Yes, it's good training though. I only made it 58 days on the starter map, but after that hit a score of 1277 on London. I also like that, like many good puzzle games, it's easy to pick and play whenever one is in the mood. Doesn't require a big time commitment.

Apparently Walter Matthau is in it too? It's funny, I'm not sure I remember seeing him in anything which wasn't some kind of comedy.

It's really weird how Hollywood keeps digging up all these old ( and not so old ) movies, just to make them worse than the originals. :(

Yeah, first time I watched it I saw Mathau in the credits and thought "WTF!?" but he makes it work. He is a jaded cynical and VERY sarcastic Transit Authority officer so he is actually perfect for the part.

The reason I only made day 39 on the starter was because I forgot to pay attention to one of my main hubs and it got over crowded.

Finally, after 3 months in my GOG games list I can download it ;)

I was still working out the dynamics, so when the overcrowding began it took me by surprise. In my starting board there was only one square station, so it became the Metro Center of my subway system. :)

I find the audio in the game very pleasing, as well as informative. The chimes of people appearing and arriving at their destinations quickly becomes a soothing rhythm when the lines get large.

When a circle boards a train does it matter what circle he gets off at? I should say I was wondering this about any shape.

I'm not positive, but I don't believe so. I think that every shape will disembark on the same shaped station that is next along the line. I also believe that rail cars may preferentially pick up the shapes it can effectively deliver, but possibly not. They may pick them up in the order in which they are waiting.

But back to your original question, I think that's the driving dynamic behind the puzzle. Specifically, to lay out lines where there is a good variety of shapes so that each passenger has as few stops as possible to go. A line with three circles in a row isn't nearly as effective as one which is circle-triangle-circle, for example.
I like this charming little game.

"Just one more try" - the early alpha demo I played seemed so simple. Well, I`ll have bit of fun with this one and then it gets tossed away, I thought. But I kept comming back for "just another round". After a week or so I had to admit that I already had so much fun with the demo I needed to pay something back. So I got it as an early release and I never regretted that decision.
