Empathy simulator.

Mini Metro, a brain-wracking metro simulator, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 10% launch discount.

Sometimes, the most complicated things come in the simplest packages. Mini Metro, a strategy public-transit simulation, is a staple of simple brain-wracking glory.
In its simplicity, Mini Metro is beautiful and to the point - a simple map dotted with shapes and distinctly colored lines is something we've all seen before while traversing major cities, and it all evokes a very familiar sense of nervousness and confusion. Then, more stops, more people, begin to show up.

It's right about then that you should be hit with a sudden wave of empathy for both: the frustrated passengers waiting and changing lines, as well as the people tasked with the weight of figuring out and pleasing the flowing masses.

Despite being a relatively simplified simulation of real life mechanics, Mini Metro gives you a taste of the urgency and sophistication of transit planning. If you can figure it out and survive, you may just find yourself with a newfound understanding for that one really stupid transfer you have to make on your way to work.

Check out the developer's website for a playable taste of the full game.

Looks like fun.

My first car was a mini metro, so I feel like I ought to buy this, for some reason.

IAmSinistar: I little something to listen to in the background while you play.
I recommend the soundtrack for Hungarian movie "Kontroll" about ticket inspectors in Budapest Metro. Great comedy and great music.

Good stuff, thanks! I'll have to check if that film is available over here somewhere, sounds like my kind of thing.

That music is fantastic. Thanks for posting it. Is the movie available online/with English subs?

About bloody time. It's been TBA forever! XD

Repurchased (or it will be in a few moments), since I'd rather use GOG then wrestle with Humble. At least until GOG Galaxy is required...

Was available on DVD at one time with English subs, but it's still on youtube.

gogskel: With the big sales going on at the top of the main page, I'd expect not many people to notice this game, to be honest.
Indeed.

I keep forgetting to scroll down past the sales to see "recent news". Missed a couple new releases.

I wonder why it wasn't put up in to the highlights section like gog did it with Legends of Eisenwald.

IAmSinistar: Magnificent. Mini Metro. Mine.
Have you ever played the game before? Contemplating it, just not sure yet.
high rated

Tannath: You guys should probably remove the note down on the bottom of the game page now:

"Please Note: Other Languages are currently in development - the full list of available languages will be confirmed closer to launch."

Treasure: Wait a moment- this wasn't removed? Maybe there's still hope for the game to get the greek language version... (see my previous post on the 1st page for proof of it being available)
We do have a partial crowdsourced Greek translation in the game. It's missing a few strings that were recently added (you can see the full list of translated strings at https://www.transifex.com/dinosaur-polo-club/mini-metro/, and fix them up if you'd like!). A few of the existing Greek translations are a little long, so in the city selection screen they overlap with some of the UI elements.

We have professional translations only for English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Polish, and Russian—all others are crowdsourced.
Slowly getting rid games of my steam wishlist and adding them to here on GOG. Always wanted to try out this game since seeing my local train system in one of the previews.

Just got done with my first play. It's almost exactly what I expected. Minimal graphics, sparse music that is also dynamic information about what is going on, and easy-to-grasp play mechanics.

The essence of the game is that you have stations which are different shapes, and passengers which correspond to those shapes. You want to get each to their station efficiently. There are certain rules and limitations about how you can lay lines, and as you progress you slowly unlock things like more rail cars, more lines, and increased station capacity.

The difficulty arises as more stations appear, as you have to decide how to expand and rearrange lines. Also, you sometimes need extra items like tunnels in order to build a line over a river. Further increasing the difficulty is when more station shapes start appearing. These can become critical points, because passengers from all over the place can need to get to that one station, and if you make them take too many transfers your stations can become overcrowded.

Overcrowding is what ends your game. You'll be warned when a station reaches capacity and then a gauge will begin to fill as the station becomes more and more crowded. You have to replan your lines to relieve the overcrowding or it's game over.

It's a simple but compelling puzzle, and it's supposed to have a good degree of randomness, so you aren't stuck repeating the same cities over and over. There are also daily challenges to keep it fresh.

If you like abstract puzzlers, I'd say this is one to get.

Good deal, mate! Let us know what you think of it too.

tinyE: You know, they should really make a DLC for one of these games based on the movie "The Taking of Pelham 123".

The original version not the John Travolta remake piece of shit.
That really was a crappy film, but I had no idea it was a remake. And since we're on that topic, what's with all the bad remakes lately?
