It’s time to play the cult FPS with a huge graphical upgrade, including Ray Traced Emissive Lighting. Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition update is now available on GOG.COM!

Upgrades include DLSS 2.0 Inclusion, Ray Traced Emissive Lighting used throughout, FOV slider, increased framerates, and display resolutions. A Ray Tracing capable GPU is the minimum spec for this beast, and you can upgrade right now for free if you already own Metro Exodus.

GOG GALAXY users can access the update by activating the beta channel for Enhanced Edition. For offline users, there's a separate installer for this version available in their libraries. For more details, please check here on how to access Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition on GOG.

Is the older version of the engine still available?

idbeholdME: I'm "stuck" with a 1080 Ti
The very top card from two generations ago. As long as you can live without 4k gaming or ray-tracing, you will survive. It seems to be about as fast as an RTX 3060 Ti.

That is why I put in the quotes. Imagining the people who are sitting at something lower like a 1070 with no option to buy an upgrade in sight, I'm pretty well off.

aluinie: This is cool now i need a gfx that can use the new features.
Yeah, maybe in 2023...
So, when is the Linux version for the non-enhanced version coming to GOG?
Thanks to the devs and GOG for the free update!!!!
But could you separate the versions? Like make an entry for the normal version and another for the enhanced.

idbeholdME: But I'm "stuck" with a 1080 Ti, so it could have been much worse. I consider myself one of the lucky ones who grabbed it shortly before the stocks ran out/the insanity began.
Poor bastards like me ... I've got a GTX 1050 (non-Ti) with 2GB of VRAM. I had been hoping to upgrade within the next year, but with prices the way they are, no chance.

I generally tend to play older games anyway, so it's not going to bother me too much. At least I have a dedicated GPU.
Here is a very good graphics comparison video.

Dude, I think it's time for all of us to accept that GPU prices are probably never going to go down. This is the new normal.
Eh I'm fine without anything fancy. Although I have a 2060 Super I never got it for its ray-tracing ability - it's too weak for most of that anyway. It's not like I was planning to upgrade for a number of years even if graphics cards were attainable at reasonable prices.

I never imagined this a few years ago, but a console seems like a far better choice, at least from a financial standpoint.
As an example, a PS5 where I live is priced somewhere between 800 and 1000 €. That's more or less an RTX 3060 8GB. IMO, that's just too much for a GPU.

Pre-builts aren't a bad option these days. I'd rather off myself than become a console exclusive gamer.

I'll never be buying a new one then.

What are you saying, si not true.
I have a RTX 2060, and can make use of the Ray tracing capabilities with every game that uses them.
IE. Metro, Control BFV, Ghostrunner, Tomb Raider,COD MW..no issues at all.!

Being able to do something and having a smooth experience are two entirely different things. I prefer a higher, stable framerate over fancy features that are pretty meaningless to me during actual gameplay.

Also, as much as the DLSS gets praised I just don't like it as it tends to make things look off more often than not with the extra bonus of occasional artifacting.
