A new shape has appeared on GOG.COM’s space radar to celebrate the beginning of our Summer Sale. Metro Exodus is an action-packed FPS game based on the best-selling novels from Dmitry Glukhovsky.

In the year 2036, a quarter-century after nuclear war devastated the earth, a few thousand survivors still cling to existence in the tunnels of the Moscow’s Metro. As Artyom, you must flee the underground shelter and lead a band of refugees on a continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia aboard the Aurora, a heavily modified steam locomotive.

Until the end of Summer Sale - 15th June, 1 PM UTC - Metro Exodus is available on GOG.COM with a 50% discount.

heart-of-ice: Look, it's very simple, gamers aren't that demanding.
"But teh PiR4TeS!!!!" =P

Kidding aside, in a manner of speaking that's what this was all about, especially considering that today marks the day they started patching out Denuvo elsewhere as well.

Digital_CHE: It seems that Deep Silver is trying to get the redemption for the last year's Epic Sin .. And is working...
I'm sure they don't consider themselves to have done any "Epic sin" and nor are they seeking redemption for a non-sin.

More like: a) the exclusivity contract with EGS expired combined with b) they realized that they had already made the vast majority of the sales from this game that they are ever going to make from DRM-ed platforms, so they decided to release it on GOG after the DRM-ed sales have dried up in order to collect GOG customers' money too.

heart-of-ice: Launch your awesome game on all platforms simultaneously and let the buyer decide which platform suits him best. If it's EPIC, then it's EPIC. If it's Steam, then it's Steam. If it's GOG, then let it be GOG.
But they have to give GOG and Steam a 30% cut each whereas they only give EGS a 12% cut.

If I was them, I would release EGS exclusive games too for that reason. It's easy for the customer to say "don't make EGS exclusives," because it's not the customer who is giving away 18% more of their money than is necessary per copy of each game sold.

Well, looks like it is time to buy games. :)
It used to be Epic Exclusive, so no thx. I will never buy a game on GOG that used to be Epic Exclusive.

aluinie: Falls down in shock OMG never thought id see it this soon
Deep Silver has a pretty good relationship with GOG now as many games from them are on here. Its not that surprising.

As a publisher I'd take the 30% cut over a lost sale any day of the week.
<Looks at backlog. Considers age and slowing reflexes. Puts it in the wishlist.>

See, no need to wait ten years before releasing a game here.

Yeah, i think math wise the 30% are much less detrimental during the initial release where purchases are the highest. Purchases only tend to spike during sales otherwise. Or when a sequel or otherwise related title gets released.

I have my own "no Epic Exclusive games" policy. If the devs think getting that unethical Epic deal, then they can do that but theyre never getting my money. I got Metro 2033 and Last Light.

Nicole28: Awesome! I'm guessing the Epic thing wasn't working out that well. Most people prefer buying on Steam and GOG after all.
No, its just that the exclusive deals run out. They almost always become available on Steam, GOG and so on. Observation is on GOG now too, was Epic Exclusive.

takezodunmer2005: Again I am overjoyed that this game; in spite of it being a denuvo-infected title could ever make it over here! Now I will have the entire metro game collection! Thank fuck I never bought the steam version, and have removed it from my steam wishlist!

The fact that this; prey, and Deus EX MD are currently at steam infected with denuvo makes this an incredible acquisition on GoG's part; thanks again GoG and the respective game's publishers!
Publishers see more and more that GOG really is a great sales platform. They see that DRM is not something they need to make money from game sales, DRM free is a way, and its the best way in my opinion.

Boring, repetitive game with none of the charm of its predecessors? I'll pass.

Agreed, let's hope this trend not only continues, but accelerate towards more games for GoG, was blown away by the removal of denuvo with DoomE!

I dream of a day when new releases from steam simultaneously make it over here!
Well, what a pleasant surprise. I'm glad I held off on purchasing it elsewhere for this long. Now I can have the complete collection on GOG.

While I'm sure Deep Silver and the Metro series as a whole will have a permanent dent in their reputation going forward because of the fact they made this game exclusive to Epic two weeks before launch, I still have to give kudos to Deep Silver for not forgetting about GOG and getting it out here a little over a year after release. And to GOG as well, of course, for working with the publisher to make this happen.

Hopefully the huge backlash last year and the fact that 2020 has shown businesses how much they need customers will be enough of a deterrent to pulling off a similar move for their next release.
Really glad its here so soon, I refuse to buy anything with DRM anymore.
Kudos for going DRM-free.

However, this is one of those I really wanted to like.

I still feel that the price-tag that Deep Silver spewed out is too high and with these DLC's it's even worse. Don't get me wrong, the artwork and the graphics are gorgeous, the story and some of the action is good, but yes, I wouldn't pay that much either for the latest COD/GTA/Far Cry instalments either because of the psuedo-open empty world, with bad AI and cringy mechanics.

My gf and I watched Delirious' playthrough, and honestly, he was the reason we actually cared to see the entire playthrough, but here's the thing (from what I remember): the game isn't directly terrible, but the middle part almost completely kills it, especially the fanatics/desert part.
