“There's only one thing that can save a man from madness and that's uncertainty.”

Metro 2033 Redux the ultimate edition of one of the most compelling survival FPS games, is available now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com. Get it up to 60% off with the launch promo!

The bombs fell sometime in July 2013. A nuclear exchange in the Middle East turns global - the United States go quickly, but they do not go quietly. Neither does Russia. The remnants of humanity are saved by an unimposing marvel of modern engineering: the kilometers of underground tunnels that weave below what are now memories of a bustling Moscow. The year is 2033, your home is the Metro.

Metro 2033 is a video game adaptation of an award winning Russian novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky - the survival horror / FPS blend took gamers by surprise with its masterfully thick horror atmosphere and a compelling, fresh, uniquely Russian universe. Metro 2033 Redux is a remastered edition, but it's also far beyond just a graphics update - thanks to significant gameplay and design updates, this release is a game fresh enough even for veterans to truly enjoy. With new graphics, new map design, impressive technical improvements and plenty of new gameplay elements - this is without a doubt the definitive way to experience Metro 2033.

Pick up both Metro 2033: Redux and the sequel, Metro: Last Light Redux in a single DRM-free bundle to get 60% off both titles, or pick up today's release or sequel at 50% off individually. The launch discount will last for 5 days, until Monday, July 27 at 9:59 AM GMT.

inc09nito: Amazing game is released and what you see in comments section? People complaining. That's GOG alright....
I have to add a complaint, that being GOG trying to murder my wallet with piles of new releases.

Granted, it's not a heavy complaint, since I'll end up with everything regardless, but still...

This is one the best FPS games out there and definitely one of the most atmospheric! "Bleak" is the word that best describes it. Great world, great story, great transition between tense moments and warm feelings in the stations, where each one of them is like a community on its own down there.

Welcome to post apocalyptic Russia baby, enjoy your stay.... or not! ;-)

*edit: all the above refer to the original 2033. I haven't played the Redux and I didn't know there are so many gameplay changes apart from the visuals...

Well if the Linux versions were available here I'd have instabought these plus a bunch of gift keys. Unfortunately the only place that has the Mac/Linux versions available right now is Steam
Great! I might get those (again) just for the sake of having both games steam-free.

Although I wonder if Last Light Redux is really worth it. 2033 Redux is actually great, but as I hear LL Redux is not that much of an improvement from the original. Any thoughts?
Nice release.
Personally not a huge fan of the series, but I know plenty of people are.

adamhm: Only the Windows version again :(
For a good reason. The mac-port is for most macs not playable, as for nvidia graphic cards both Redux versions uses software acceleration instead of the gpu. As result framerates on many modern macs is really slow. Intel and AMD seems to work fine, but except the Mac Pro none modern Mac uses AMD GPUs and Intel Iris isn't really a good choice for a modern shooter. As long as there is no fix released for that problem it's a good decision from GOG to not release the mac-version.

Can someone from GOG clarify why there's no Linux version of this too?

Ganni1987: Can someone from GOG clarify why there's no Linux version of this too?
Is there a retail linux version available? If so, I guess it's hard to get that version because of licensing, as Steam lists only a windows and mac-version.

Edit: To be more clear, if there is a retail linux port around, it's likely that another party is involved. GOG would need to make also a contract with that publisher to release that version then.

Is it recommended to buy both games at this price or shall I wait for deeper discounts?

That's what I'd like to know. Also if it would be possible to provide the Linux version at least on an unsupported/"at own risk" basis...

Both are available for Linux on Steam (they use the SteamOS icon to indicate Linux support now)

Ah, ok. I just checked the gamepage to watch out for Pingu ;-) Not really familiar with steam.

Edit: Sorry, I meant Tux. Pingu is another character.

Telika: Any chance to ever get the non-redux version ?

You know, for good-old-gaming, curating, sake ?

wolfsrain: This. I definitely prefer the older versions.
Same here, i prefer the old versions too.

I can't help but wonder why GOG only releases the redux versions.
Instabuy---although I still don´t get why the second game´s Remaster was on here before the first game´s redux!
Well, I don´t complain as we now got both! :)
