Just scorching the surface.

Metal Fatigue is now available DRM-free, only on GOG.com.
Advanced, abandoned, fully functional alien technology. That's what was waiting for us in distant stars. We collected, studied, and reassembled it as best we could... and then we used it to destroy each other, RTS-style. Take control of three mega corporations as they clash in fully-3D battlefields, using customizable mechs made from the spare parts the mysterious Hedoth left behind. But remember: the planet's surface is not your only concern, general. Enemies can come from underground or descend from orbit.

tremere110: NOOOOOO!!!! So close!!!
I guess I should send a support ticket to GoG to get this sorted out.
This might be quick and dirty fix until I manage to replace the build:

open mFatigue.exe in any hex-editing tool
go to offset CA9C
change from 75 to EB

Does the game have a windowed mode?
OMG! This happened. Sort of wish it would have happened before the sale though. Im a little broke right now.

Thanks Thiev! Is this because I had Japanese installed on my system? I know some older programs were region locked when they detected a language they didn't like. Go figure - it would have to be a game about giant robots that hates Japan :D

No idea, but we will check tomorrow ;) It might be related to OS language, regional settings or any combination of both.
But do let me know if that change works for you, please ;)

He he. A few years ago I would have given anything for a GOG release of Metal Fatigue, which I loved very much back in the day. However, then I made "my own GOG version" and played it again. And weeell...

In retrospect it's a bit of a poor man's Total Annihilation. In the end it's pretty shallow and monotonous and there are some frustrating mechanics. For instance, the map is divided into three layers: underground, ground and sky or something like that. It seems like a pretty amazing feature at first, especially with the air combat that looked just amazing back in the day, but it happens too often that you have trouble winning the mission because just as you've cleared out one of the layers it turns out that the enemy built a new base on a different one, particularly underground. This was so frustrating to me during my last approach that I just gave up on it. It really dragged out this already pretty slow game.

I'm still sentimental for this game, though. It has a specific feel that only games from that particular era have and it has many pretty cool ideas. It's just that they don't really add up to anything great.

However, it's still a pretty great GOG release and I believe many others will enjoy it a lot.

Awesome stuff from the wishlist (all three of them!) Thanks a lot GOG, keep it up!
Wow, this brings back memories.
Metal Fatigue and Fallen Haven, on the same day. I guess someone played the same games as I did way back when.

The change worked perfectly, thanks!

Yeah, I remember it being an issue where the computer would create too many units in the underground portion. This prevented the player from entering the underground level. I wonder if GOG fixed it.

F4LL0UT: snip
Yea, but... You know its got mechs, right?

Since you're here: did you guys include the music from both discs? And does it automatically play correctly for each faction?

Yeah, they don't quite save the game, though, do they...

And yet I'm inclined to buy the GOG version and give it another try. There's something really sinister going on with that game.

RadonGOG: Wow, looks cool. But it isn´t featured on WSGF---can someone try to find out if it supports abitrary resolutions like several other 3D-games from that era?

Speaking in general: Very cool to see more stuff from the wishlist folding in once again!

vadalma2018: No, I don't think is support anything outside 4:3/5:4 ... look at screenshots.
Doesn´t mean a thing. Ultima IX supports everything as well, but the shots shown on the gamecard don´t show it off. (there are many other examples as well)

Its enough for me, but... Honestly, I think all RTS games from that era aged pretty poorly, and are not fun anymore. Even the ones that end in "Craft". That genre has REALLY come a long way.
Great release! This is what I like most about GOG :)
