GOG.com: Release: Megafortress Collection
Fly missions in locations such as
Iraq,
the USSR,
Iran,
Libya,
the Korean peninsula,
the Philippines, and
the USAF training area in Nevada
So, no "Operation Linebacker II"?
Latest release to share if if somebody asks where the good old games are.
Why didn't I heard about this one before? I'm glad that expansions are also included. Wishlisted!
I have it on physical, glad to see it here.
With so many flying simulators of the 80s and 90s, I hope we see more and more of them here.
Don't get me wrong, there are already some fantastic ones here.

I would love to see titles such as F-16 Combat Pilot, the F-15 Strike Eagle series, etc.

Wow

One of the most unknown DOS/Amiga simulators. But what I have seen about, it is on the hardcore league of sims. It is at the level of complexity of gems like Tornado, Sub Command, Falcon... also B-17 Flying Fortress. but with classic canned missions style of game instead of dynamic campaigns. But I am not sure the level of variability or randomization the game missions offer. Anyways there is a lot of content with the expansions and the editor.

Apparently the gameplay is more similar to games like B-17 or F-19/117. This is, more strategic than fast paced like Strike eagle or Falcon.

This edition is pretty polished presentation wise. The guys have created a little and elegant launcher to select the games, manuals, editor etc.

One of those old simulators to enjoy readin a thick manual. Learning and discovery

Made curious by your comment, I looked up how many flight simulators we actually have here - and found these 31 (edited):
(I restricted the term "Flight simulator" to planes and helicopters...so, no space ships, etc)

1942: The Pacific Air War
Apache Longbow (Helicopter)
B-17 Flying Fortress: The Mighty 8th [no longer available on GOG]
Blue Max: Aces of the Great War
Comanche (Helicopter)
Dogfight: 80 Years of Aerial Warfare
Enemy Engaged: Apache vs Havoc (Helicopter)
Enemy Engaged: Comanche vs Hocum (Helicopter)
European Air War
F-117A Nighthawk Stealth Fighter 2.0
F-19 Stealth Fighter
F/A-18E Super Hornet
Falcon Collection (Falcon, Falcon A.T., Falcon Gold, Falcon 4.0)
Fleet Defender: the F-14 Tomcat Simulation
Gunship! (Helicopter)
Harrier Jump Jet
Hind (Helicopter)
IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946
Knights of the Sky
Megafortress Collection (Megafortress, Operation Sledgehammer, Operation Skymaster (+Mission Editor))
Project Wingman
Red Baron Pack (Red Baron 1, Red Baron: Mission Builder, Red Baron 3D)
Solo Flight (Civil Aviation - no fighting involved)
Strike Commander
Stunt Island (Civil Aviation)
Super Chopper (Helicopter)
Super Huey 1 & 2 Airdrop (Helicopter)
Super Huey III (Helicopter)
Wings of Prey: Special Edition
Wings (Emulated Amiga Edition)
Wings! Remastered Edition

Now, it may very well be that there are more...looking these up here on GOG is a real PITA, due to the less-than-optimal search and tag function.

If anyone knows of some that I missed...

Btw: speaking of the tags...my new favourite when it comes to tags is F/A-18E Super Hornet: that one features two tags: "classic" and "modern".
It doesn't get any better than this. XD

Edit: edited in some simulations I had missed

I like the fact that extra effort has been taken to create nice launcher, so it does not look like a cash grab. That taken aside, as old games enthusiast, I am always a bit skeptical about old sim games. Modern simulators due to the sole fact that are designed to run on better hardware and are able to simulate environments better. In addition developing teams and budgets allocated for those games are simply larger so more people can recreate detail on a much higher levels.
I know that there is not much competition in the genre, so older games can shine, but do you think that such simulators from '90s can be played nowadays not out of nostalgia?

This is not a rant just a honest question to sim players. I do not know this game and I really hope the sales here will satisfy Ziggurat so that more titles are brought by them here.

A great number of old sims are worthy even more than modern ones. I mean real simulators. Just because In current times the genre is dead and only long runner like DCS is wielding that vision of things.

I also don't agree with the size of the developing teams and budget. In the past the sim genre was popular, very popular and companies like EA (Jane Label) or Microprose used a lot of resources to create AAA games. Today the developer teams for those games are relatively small studios with fewer people and money. It is more niche, the only change is the technology advancement, perfect for the genre when it is not popular anymore.

I Also dissagree with the cliché use and abuse of the "nostalgia term".
It can be valid for a revision of an old game were the sequel is superior and the only reason to play the old one could be your familiarty with it, what you remember or the nostalgia.
But Games like Falcon Dangerous Waters, Tornado or even F-117 offer things you can not experiment in newer games just because they do not exist anymore.
Like some posters here I also welcome the relaunch of old war sims. There's still plenty of old gems which can be brought back from oblivion and may possibly bring some money to the new publishers.

Here are some suggestions which I'd love to get my hands on (a few of them have already been re-released on steam):

Come on retro publishers... Don't you want our money?

Thank you for your answer. I understand and respect your opinion and for nearly all genres that are not popular anymore (adventure, puzzle, platformers, RTSes) I would use the same arguments, yet for the sims I am not entirely convinced as I believe the technical limitations of the computers those games were made for hinder the experience and immersion. I regret that this genre become niche, as latest Microsoft Flight simulator clearly shows what can be achieved with current technology. Sadly will be forever locked behind DRM.

Still I hope this collection and other older sims will bring joy and fun to the gamers, and at the end of the day, this matters the most.
