Fans of Idea Factory games are in for a huge treat. First of all, Megadimension Neptunia VIIR is now available on GOG.COM along with a 60% discount. Secondly, also quite a few DLCs to games from Neptunia Universe are getting added to our library. Such a load of new content gives us the occasion to present you with a special set of discounts reaching up to 70% on selected Idea Factory titles and DLCs. This promo sale ends on 18 December 2019, at 2 PM UTC.
How is continuity in this one? I remember it was pretty weird when I realized that RB2 was reboot or alternate reality or something (after quite some time in game... I knew the characters were acting strange, but it took until they started talking about how they met for it to sink in).

Edit: apparently RB2 is better name than HDN2.

Bigs: Hey.. at least you waited.. I bought the games and DLC on Stem... then here... then the 2nd wave of DLC (DLC pack 2) on Steam - at launch - when it wasn't bundled together with discounts... then VIIR and the DLC on Steam... now getting the 2nd wave DLC and VIIR here...

Being a Nep fan with no patience is an expensive hobby ><

MarkoH01: Oh that must hurt ;)
But according to your description it seems that they always demanded additional money for the "new" DLCs that are now available here as well ... meaning there were always two packages or like you called them "waves". Makes it a bit easier for me to swallow that pill. Since you seem to be an insider, could you explain to me if the new game is a continuation of the story of the previous three Hyperdimension Neptunia games? I don't know the universe at all - just bought the games back then because I liked the art and idea ... did not even finish the first one so I don't even know if 1-3 are telling one story or seperate storys. Maybe you could enlighten me a bit :)
VIIR is sort of a continuation of the RB (RB3 - aka Victory / V Generation - VII = Victory 2) storyline (loosely with regards to a couple of the characters) - however it's not really necessary (IMO) to have played through the RB trilogy to understand / enjoy VIIR for its story

Politely disagreeing. Part of the experience with Neptunia is getting to know the characters and growing with them. And that is best achieved by starting from the beginning.
Other than that there are plenty references to not only past main events from MK2/RB2 and V1/RB3, but also minor ones.

Perhaps it's ok to skip HDN1/RB1 since it is no longer canon (i'd still recommend it to newcomers tho), but i personally believe that the other 2 are essential for max enjoyment.

I guess this answers my question about continuity - no more RB1->RB2 reboots. Thanks.

I agree with you in regards to getting to know the characters - and I'd advise anyone who asks to start from the first game. However I came from purely a story point and whether or not you'd be able to play this without any prior knowledge of the previous games.

Great!
Can you change it ingame (I don't use Galaxy)?

Incredible that the text dialogue would be 500+MB-1.5 GB, as they are extremely text-heavy games! Also, insta bought! Color me a JRPG fan!

MarkoH01: Hmmm... I would have been happy to get those missing DLCs added to my originally bought "DLC pack" which never mentioned that it is incomplete ... I am torn here. Nice that it is even available here but not so nice that they want additional money for every DLC ....
The DLC in the new packs was released in the past year, long after they did the initial DLC pack. Everyone was surprised when they suddenly started putting out more DLC for the Rebirth games this long after release. You weren't deceived, they just decided to make more down the line.

Just to avoid confusion: The patches added japanese TEXT. Audio has been there since day 1.

Japanese devs seem to avoid GOG a lot, so a GOG release from there is always a nice surprise. With a bigger dev Capcom releasing Dragon's Dogma here, I hoped it was a sign that they had become more open towards this store, but unfortunately theres no sign of Monster Hunter World nor the Mega Man Legacy collections, it's a shame.

I'm interested about Neptunia series, but I currently have no room for them in my "Next to play" list. JRPG's are always so long, with 60 hours just for the main quests. Gonna need months to finish the Neptunia games.

Audio language can be changed ingame.

Unless i'm missing something, text language can only be changed during installation.

I meant the text, I try to practice reading the language whenever I can and I always prefer the original language in both text and audio once I can understand it (not just for jap. games btw).

Does choosing japanese during installation work with the offline installers, I don't mind reinstalling them (though just choosing the like in Ys8 is more comfortable) I just want to avoid the Launcher.
