Theatricality and deception are powerful agents.

Masquerada: Songs and Shadows, a stylish RPG of artful deception and real-time-with-pause combat, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Keep the aristocracy elevated far above the underprivileged for long enough and turmoil will certainly ensue. Even in Citte della Ombre, this beautiful Venetian-escue city, where elaborate masks grant magic powers to their owners. Living in exile for past transgressions, you are now summoned back to form an elite task force and investigate the mysterious kidnapping of an upstanding citizen. But can you truly trust those giving the orders or even your own companions?
Whether you enjoy swift, chaotic battles that require sharp reflexes and split-second decisions, or prefer to plan and fine-tune your every move, Masquerada's flexible combat system will feel equally fun and challenging. Especially when accompanied by the dramatic narrative and incredible voice-overs, provided by the likes of Jennifer Hale and Matthew Mercer.

Get entangled in a dramatic tale of dark conspiracy, powerful magic, and intricate lies in Masquerada: Songs and Shadows, DRM-free on GOG.com.

I hoped this would come to GOG. I've had my eye on it for a while, I'm very much looking forward to playing it... some time in 2019 considering how my wishlist grows again and again and barely ever shrinks :P

Breja: my wishlist grows again and again and barely ever shrinks :P
Well, we could easily fix that if you'd be a good sport and make it public.

JudasIscariot: If we silently update an installer or file, it's due to the changes being small things like icons getting fixed or some other minor issue.
avatar
Fairfox: Pls don't do this, minor or not; if yooou update it should be communicated regardless; s'not like it's costing moolah just to state it to peeps, and poisonally I like to always have teh newest versions/at least be aware of 'em. I really dislike stealth updates, fo' sho'.
"s'not like it's costing moolah"

I don't want to get into this topic too much since it is a little bit over my head in so many ways but I would recommend googling "content delivery network" to see how those actually operate :)

Never did I think I'd see the day when a staff member of any company quoted something like that.
I mean, I knew this place was special, but man alive.

Got to work with what's available :)

Remember to point this one out when you ask for a raise.

And yet another interesting game striving for my money - SIGH.

Plus: There is a DEMO.
Minus: The demo is not on GOG.

That's a tough choice, which game goes in the cart now and which in the crowded wishlist.

JudasIscariot: *snip*
While we're talking about GOG's lack of communication, how about the (presumably unintentional) false advertising with Cluster Truck? The feature list was silently changed after I brought attention to it, but that doesn't help anyone who bought the game before that.

zeogold: Not sure what you mean.
What's so bad about quality voice acting?
avatar
mystral: In theory, nothing. In practice, voice acting, especially for the PC, often means dialogue that has less options
You may be happy to hear that Masquerada does not have any interactive dialogues, so the question of dialogue options doesn't even arise.

Loving it so far, the last time I was grinning so much because of a game was because of Dragon Age. :D

Well, for one... it isn't retro-Adlib compatible with the Soundblaster Pro ... ;)

What is this, beatnik slang?

Well... I figure since there's a big 8-bit retro pixel-graphics thing going on these days, why not have 8-bit retro crap audio to go along with it no? I mean high quality voice acting on top of a game with graphics that have corners that poke my eyes out doesn't make sense. Shouldn't the audio also make my ears bleed? :)

I do actually have a SoundBlaster Pro kicking around somewhere also sadly. :)
