As much as I wanted to like these games in the 80s and early 90s, the controls were always their biggest enemy.
So, my question is, what are the controls in this game like? Updated, or the same weird ones from back in the day?

yeah. this is what worried me, too.

it turned from an insta-buy to a "i'm somewhat reserved about this, now" after reading a couple of reviews. apparently, it bought all those movement problems with it. :(

but it looks so beautiful.

i'd prefer this style of game a lot more [and would have preferred it a great deal in the 80's] if the movements were more "on rails" [ie: if you're up on a ledge, you can't fall down if you just hit the movement key in the correct direction, because you'd go in exactly a straight 45 degree angle along that line - a la q-bert.]

Looks as if you can choose between old style constrained axis or modern full freedom movement. It is always going to be an issue for an isometric fixed camera game, though. I'm definitely getting this one. Love all the references to British 8-bit culture.

it is... i knew the lume looked familiar, and i had a deja vu feeling....
its heavily based on these games, the Solstice is more a real isometric, the rooms had a fixed size, and the did not scroll while moving to show more of the level because the level is to big for the screen to be displayed at once.

So basically i liked the static (not scrolling as you move your character in a level that is to big to show on the screen at once)far better then that scrolling stuff, no matter how big a pc is and how fast in my case i will always be sensitive to much scrolling, so i skip on this game, this new game also has to much blasts and other visual effects (photosensitivity).

Anyway this game looks isometric but is is not a 100% true isometric cause the ones i had did not scroll you saw a level on the screen at once, there was no scrolling needed to show the level.
I been playing games since the cheap small lcd handhelds and also vic20 and c64 and upwards, so this is not a real isometric game.
I will stick to point and click (no 3d ofcourse/ no vector graphics /no fpp).

Wishlisted for now, will definitely get it as soon as I buy my new No Man's Sky-ready computer and I can spend money on games again. Looks great!

THAT's what that game was. I loved Equinox and rented it like 30 times back in the 90s. Good times.

I know but then they should add the word: scrolling, cause scrolling is involved.
This reminds me of startrek: " its life Jim but not as we know it"
So this would be "Its a isometric game, but not as most know it" (a little adaption is required).

Anyway, i will be watching the upcoming tab and hope for some old stuff ito arrive i can really enjoy...

Beautiful looking game, and this should fill my 3D platforming void left wide open by the graphical glitch-filled Legend of Kay. Wishlisted for now, will purchase as my next personal payday gift.

I would feel better though if 1) the devs used more humble self-praise, and 2) the MC's design wasn't ripped from one of the main characters of Dungeon Defenders...

Technically, isometric perspective is an oxymoron...
