Looks fun. Wishlisted.
Another formerly rejected title too, iirc.
Keep it up, GoG.

Really? If so, that's another good step!

(Pssst, @GOG, how about also taking care of this, thank you)

By the way, the humor in this release is so cheesy it's actually tempting me!

I'm assuming "co-op" listed means "couch co-op" or "same computer" co-op and not Internet? They're very different beasts. The former makes this instabuy. The latter makes it "maybe some day when I get through other things".

Local/couch co-op :)

Bartek Pieczonka (one half of Lichthund):
"We didn't... we don't have a GoG presence because... GoG didn't want us. 'Cause we're too casual (air quotes).
And... But I love people from GoG, you know that."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oER3DeE9a8w&t=1525
Bartek Pieczonka:
"Please, don't yell at me (chuckles)."

GoG representative in the audience:
"Hello... yeah, thank you for the speech.
"So, in our case it was very strange, because the game... we did... we do a review for every game we release, and the review was quite positive for Lichtspeer, but we thought that the game is basically... looks (too) mobile'ish for us, looks very simple (and) arcade(y)... And this is not what we're searching (for), basically."

Bartek Pieczonka:
"Yeah yeah yeah, I know, I know."

GoG representative:
"So that was the base to reject the game."

Bartek Pieczonka:
"I mean, when I was talking yester... earlier about what would I change, I would really actually change the... the game in such a way that it doesn't immediately have this kind of arcadey, mobile browser game feel to it. Because, that was a huge problem with marketing."

GoG representative:
"The game was very, very close (to be accepted) for GoG, but like... big, in-depth gameplay was (unintelligible)..."

Bartek Pieczonka:
"We still love you, don't worry (chuckles). You're gonna get the next game."

GoG representative:
"Please send it."

fantastisch! :D ultra lol, bought already!
Too casual? Why are visual novels here, then?

Too arcade-y? Why are arcade games bad and visual novels good?

Funny how things can change over 3 and a half years, isn't it?

It just doesn't make sense to me. Can visual novels even be considered games? What's the appeal?

Very good question!

Call me when LAN-coop or Direct Connection appears in it. :/

VNs are not casual, because they require a lot of reading, which is not a casual thing for many people nowadays. Also many have rather deep and complex stories you need to follow, which also defeats the "casual" principle of playing for a few minutes and then dropping it again.

Depends on the VN. "Kinetic Novels" don't have any choices at all, so I'd consider them something like "electronic books". Some only have a few choices with more or less meaning. Some have a lot of choices and many lead to an early grave - finding the right path is "the game" here. Some have incorporated gaming mechanisms such as time management or relationship management - or built-in mini games.

So I'd say the range of interactivity is going from "none" to something of the level of a simpler point & click adventure.

What's the appeal? For some, it's deep and engaging stories, for some the big "blue eyes" of the characters ;-)

"Casual" usually means a few minutes or something like a mobile game imho
VN are like novels and u need to spend time to read.
