They're killing the peasants at Eisenwald!

Legends of Eisenwald, a mix of cRPG and classic adventure, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. Look for the game at 33% off during the Big Fall Promo!

Forget dragons, swords, and sorcery - the Reformation in medieval Germany is where it's at. Legends of Eisenwald is a gritty, down-to-earth fantasy story that mixes the combat and loot elements of hex-based cRPGs with the classic "solving puzzles to overcome challenges" gameplay of adventure games - think King's Bounty meets King's Quest and take out a chunk of the high fantasy tropes you love or hate so much.

Medieval Germany in religious conflict is a grim, unwelcoming place, but it sure makes for a good adventure. It's only fair that as a noble, you fit right in like a piece of the cruel, cruel puzzle. Sometimes, you just have to work a few men to death to turn your luck around.

You can pick up the Knight's Pack DLC for the Legends of Eisenwald OST in both MP3 and FLAC formats, as well as a Digital Artbook. During the first six days after launch, you'll also get the newest Road to Iron Forest DLC completely FREE with your game purchase.

The world is going to hand you nothing on a silver platter, you just have to take it - Legends of Eisenwald is now DRM-free on GOG.com.

aterdux: As for screen resolutions, there is a minimal one and it might be 1280x768, I will double check. It won't work on smaller screens.
1280x768 sounds much better. My monitors can run 1280x1024 resolution, which the game seems to support, as already has been confirmed in this thread. And maybe the game also supports 1600x1200. So I'm fine with my monitors.

aterdux: I mostly referred to the amount of RAM - 4GB is a must, otherwise one map will be unplayable.
4 GB RAM is not the problem for me, my PC has 4 GB. But it fails the quad-core requirement and my graphics card also is slower than the required one I think. But I hopefully will get a new PC this year which should be able to run the game. :)

As long as the card has enough memory (and no shared memory), and the system is 64 bit, it will work, but it will be slow on the only bigger map where your FPS might drop. Memory (both RAM and on card) is by far the most important requirement.
Well, it's nice to see devs here, too, not only on Steam. And thanks for the DRM free version of the game.

So welcome on the GOG forums. Hopefully, you won't run after getting to know some of our locals:)
Aye thanks for releasing the game here. I have only played a few hours of the game but i like it.

I think no one can beat Steam in terms of some of their locals :) And good to be here. That's the only thread I am suscribed to but glad to see notifications working :)

I wish we released here earlier but DRM-free version plus Galaxy integration took us a bit more time. Next time we release the game I will make sure Steam and GOG versions release the same day.

I appreciate that commitment by a developer, I hope more developers are as committed towards GOG. I look forward to Aterdux's future releases.

So, if you happened to miss my demand:
https://www.gog.com/forum/legends_of_eisenwald/changelog/post7
(more reminders an pauses about quests)

I wish we could fix it but how exactly do you suggest doing it? And remember, the game is now in 7 languages. Rewriting quests to make it easier for you is unfortunately not an option.

Same for timed quests. What kind of pauses would you like to have? The game is on autopause anyway unless you deliberately choose the time run when your hero stands still. We believe it's all sufficient.

I don't know how Wine handles system memory. Linux + X + Wine probably uses not more memory than a Windows installation with running background services. Wine should provide anything else to the game. But I'm not sure. And as the whole system only has 4 GB ...

At the moment my backlog of games is large enough, so I'll better wait until I have a new PC to be on the safe side. Maybe the game even gets another chance to be ported to Linux until then. :)

Thanks for all your answers!

I think it's safe to say there won't be porting to Linux. We can't afford spending too much of our resources now on this game, let alone porting to Mac or Linux. It makes no financial sense unfortunately.

While keeping this game updated makes little sense too, we can't just drop and abandon it. So patches will be coming and maybe we improve a thing or two in a big way. But we are pretty much working on it in our spare time now.

Has Legends Of Eisenwald sold well enough to keep Aterdux as your dayjob?

Yes, until now and maybe for a few more months. But we won't survive without external financing after that - currently looking for a publisher and/or investor. Considering a small Kickstarter campaign as well, for something like an addon to this game.

:( That's tough... I hope the release of the game has raised your profile among publishers.
In any case, count me in if you turn back to Kickstarter!

Same here. A great game with, as stated, a Disciples vibe (always... mostly a good thing).
I'd be happy to support through Kickstarter.
