"Wear it like armor and it can never be used to hurt you..."

Bastard, a standalone expansion for the turn-based medieval strategy/RPG Legends of Eisenwald, is now available on GOG.com, 10% off until May 21, 5pm UTC.
Get the rest of the Eisenwald series up to 85% off for the duration.

No good deed goes unpunished. Especially in a world as dark and twisted as this one. Bastard brings a detective mystery interlaced with social issues, harsh decisions, plenty of different endings, and of course challenging tactical battles.
Only got red "?" as HP for my troops? Any idea how to fix this?
Pff, releasing more games here while not even fixing their first game on GOG. Pretty shameful.

Developers/publishers releasing new games without bothering to fix the current ones seems to be common nowadays,.

Many gamers won't buy until they fix the old games first ( Steam has many games that will never be fixed, but publishers keep releasing new games)

As a matter of interest, what still needs fixing?

As you can tell from my post above I'm pretty much a huge fanboy of the game but I still like to consider myself objective when it comes to issues...

...and realistically I didn't come across any crashes that I recall, and certainly no bugs that come to mind. Don't really remember any broken quests either.

This was playing with an i5 on Win 7. I DO remember that the game had some pretty steep RAM requirements due to some of the map sizes and detail. I played it with 8 gb and never had an issue. I think if you played below the min specs, there was one map / level that the game just couldn't load - you might be able to "squeak by" the first couple smaller maps but once the game opened up you wouldn't be able to load.

There are some (smaller) bugs here and there but there is also the issue of achievements (+ false advertisement on the store page).

"Unfortunately, sales numbers are not enough to justify top priority for fixing this issue (we have to listen to our investors). Once we are done with the release of our new game (should come out in October), we will take a look at the achievements one more time. "

That was Eisenwald: Blood of November and still there was nothing done. As someone who bought the original game and even both DLCs, this obviously rubs me the wrong way. First, GOG is being treated as an afterthought again (reason being "sales numbers are not enough"), second, apparently it's still good enough to sell their games here and third, well...they never fixed it and are yet releasing another game.

I've played through twice (both games) and didn't come across anything major which was why I was asking.

The only thing that I am miffed about is the absence of the dev on the GOG sub-forum. He showed up a couple of times when the first game was released and then just disappeared but is active on the Steam forums. Hey, ho I guess that is par for the course really :(

Ah, I see, I don't use Galaxy so achievements have never been an issue for me. However, I do agree with what you say, it rubs me up the wrong way too when devs are happy to take our money (via GOG) but then just forget about us :(

Oh, it's time to play Eisenwald, I think...

OldOldGamer: From the screenshots looks suspiciously close (identical) to Eisenwald: NPC, maps, troops.

I didn t enjoy Eisenwald much, as the gameplay was annoing. each map you had to rebuild your army: it killed the game at the 4 map.

I ll pass for now.
No progress is lost between maps(this time):

The false advertisement isn't entirely the dev's fault though, is it?

To be honest, GOG Galaxy integration is not that a straightforward thing. Believe it or not, once it worked with Legends of Eisenwald. We did the same for Blood of November. Then without changing any code on our part it broke.

Don't get me wrong, I love GOG, especially now where your games are lost on Steam and here you get much more visibility, but Steam development tools are superior by far. Hope it changes one day and things will work here better too!

And herein lies the biggest problem with the existence of Galaxy. From the developer's perspective, GOG and Galaxy are one and the same, and having what appears to be mandatory integration into a separate development environment - where nothing works properly and is a pale, pathetic shade of Steam's system - is seen as an undue burden. It functions as a barrier to entry to the GOG catalog - a hassle and a nuisance to the developer... when, in fact, the entire purpose of a DRM-free gaming platform should be the simplicity of the deliverable.

Social media crap like "achievements" should be absolutely anathema to a DRM-free philosophy, and GOG's traditional core customer base doesn't care in the slightest about them, or anything else achieved with a third-party client.

PS: I just bought up all the Eisenwald games prior to this one to give 'em a shot. :)
