Kyn an unforgiving Viking action-RPG, is available now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com!

1. Be a viking. 2. Be buried alive. 3. ??? 4. Profit. That's the short version of an ancient Viking ritual designed to grant might and magical powers to the bravest Nordic warriors. Meet the Kyn, six rowdy vikings on a quest to fight off every single monster-like thing that infests their icy world. The thing about Kyn is that it's tough, real tough. It's a tactical RPG that's all about combat like you know it from Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale, no frills attached. Enemies are quick and brutal, and though you have your magic - health is always in short supply, one wrong turn and you're down for the count. Active-pause? Please. While you can slow down the game briefly to catch your bearings, in this world, even time is a limited resource.

Get the game alongside it's spectacularly brutal soundtrack with the Kyn: Deluxe Edition, and bring on the awesomeness of Viking instrumentals.

In battle, death and glory - join your Kyn today, DRM-free on GOG.com!
It's cool

IronArcturus: Looks interesting! Does it work with DirectX 9.0c or DX10 by any chance?
I just played it on 32-bit windows xp for about 30 min and it works fine so far.
I really disliked those preorder exclusives but I will give the game a chance. Will wishlist for now since I got Victor Vran recently which will take me long time to finish so no rush at the moment. Eitherway the game looks good.

grimwerk: When I read "unforgiving" applied to games (especially platformers), I read it as "this will irritate you". I don't want to be irritated.
True, but icy Viking aRPG goodness is pretty rare.

Also, grats to GOG.com for upping the promo page blurb; almost a return to the heady days of EnigmaticT :)
Looks good at first glance. Let's see what the reviews are bringing.

Nope, not buying this.

I don't care if it's a small, homemade release by only two people.

I don't support bad practice.

Cheers!
Does anyone know if you need to harvest resources and build stuff or is it like Pillars of Eternity with a Turn Based slo-mo combat?

Story any good?

Are there more video settings to adjust?

I did not mess much with the settings. I only made it full screen and changed the res to 1080. What kind of settings are you looking for?

Do you feel the same about Pillars of Eternity, which has both Kickstarter and preorder exclusives?

I did not know that. However, it's highly irrelevant. I haven't bought anything new from Obsidian ever since that whole mess with the Lawful Edition & Chaotic Evil editions of the amazingly broken Neverwinter Nights 2.

I do buy their stuff, but only years later at a heavy discount.

I'm glad they're still around making games & I hope they will make many more, but I won't lose any sleep if they ever fold.

It's not like they have a pristine reputation & a catalogue consisting of flawless jewels.

Now, since this is the internet, I feel I have to clarify - just because I wrote that, it doesn't mean I hate Obsidian. I don't. I don't *hate* anything or anyone apart from Adam Sandler.

Cheers!

Is there a way to manually control texture quality, anti-aliasing, or v-sync? It's always nice to have these options in PC games so they can work on older machines.

I am about to step out for a while but will let you know the settings when I get back.

B-Mehkind: I am first.

Cyraxpt: This isn't youtube so... eh?

Besides, what's the whole point of calling first? I mean, if there was something bad happening and you were the first to get to a safe place and say "FIRST!!!", well, yeah, that's something to celebrate but here?

Anyway... With all due respect for these developers i kind of got a bit of disapointment, i was thinking this was Icy being released here (you can see why i made the mistake, both with 3 letters). Uhm, kind of looks interesting but not what i'm looking for right now, maybe another time.
Calm down mate, there's no need for such comments here. If you are so bothered, then why not ignore my comment.
