I think there is a major difference hentai and gacha games: One inherently exists to exploit people, the other doesn't. It is fair to be offput by wallet eaters and their impact upon the health of society.

There is an important difference: You have to physically consume the article. No matter how many times you pull a gacha, no actual physical resource is sacrificed. There is no good reason to attach real-world money to the lootbox, because neither player nor provider are required by nature to lose something.

Further, loot crates solely exist to take money in an unfair exchange. Should the game the gacha is attached to disappear, so goes the "reward" of whatever you were pulling for.

Bluntly, I am of the mind that paid gacha shouldn't exist. People should be able to engage in nearly any vice they wish, but they shouldn't be exploited for enjoying themselves.

I (as someone who never paid a single cent for anything loosely resembling a loot box) can instantly give you two reasons against your statements:

1) The provider wants to earn money (that's his reason to attach money to loot boxes).
2) The player expects some (more or less useful) reward in exchange for his money (his reason to attach money).

And since the player is aware upfront, that he may not get the "Mega-Hyper-Super" gun he may be hoping for, the exchange is not unfair...because the player is still getting something in return for his money.

Okay, so first of all the "3D Porn Poser" games you are talking about are pretty good. The devs make thousands a month, because they work their asses off in Blender and other programs. These guys have five or six computers going at the same time rendering images constantly. The amount of computing power needed for these is unreal. Being A DIK for example is a pretty deep and funny visual novel. It takes a lot from 90's teenage movies like American Pie, which is what the developer wanted to do. It has sex, but it also has memorable characters and scenarios. They have to do a hazing event that you take part in, some of it is sex and some just regular college hijinx. It really feels like you're in a 90's teen film. There are way too many moments where I'm laughing my ass of, or I'm saddened by the truth behind some of the characters. With Being A DIK, sex scenes really only count for 10% of the game and even Dr Pink Cake stated that it wasn't meant to be just a sex game. Again, it's like a 90's American teen movie. It reminds me of the good old days in this country where we could have this kind of stuff and everything wasn't so damn political. It even makes fun of feminism with the Gender Studies class where you have to talk with all these future cat ladies and remember the things they said. "How many cats do I have?" "What kind of soda do I drink everyday?" "What is the name of my invisible boyfriend?" Yep, it goes there. I think the game was made by a Canadian who just loves classic American culture and likes to poke fun at the current state of it. There's no LGBT shit in it either, except in a silly manner. It's not woke at all. Very surprising to see, which is why it will continue to get my money. That's for damn sure.

Games use gacha mechanics all the time...without requiring the user to spend actual money for every pull. Paid gachas have a tendency of taking away your money, and whatever was on offer vanishes when the paid gacha goes extinct. That is a shit exchange.

Also, I feel that while people should have a wide range of personal liberties - companies should not have nearly as much freedom. Many companies exist for the primary purpose of hoarding wealth, not to make cool things or enrich the lives of many people.

Paid gacha is not enriching, save for whoever is at the top of the pyramid. I am opposed to your viewpoint, because your stance is about giving corporations the ultimate freedom to ruin people, all the while claiming it is for allowing those people to live their best lives.

A world without paid gacha, simply means that gamers get to engage in gacha mechanics without being ripped off. This, frankly, is way better than what you are pushing.

Everyone is going to have their own idea or feeling in regards to curation and where that line should be drawn. Clearly, there's some titles you don't think should be here and others that have been refused by GOG that you think should be here. Ultimately, it's up to GOG to make those decisions, and GOG will do what they feel is best for them and what's making them money.

I'd recommend that you just ignore the titles that you don't like and leave it at that. GOG needs to expand and diversify it's catalogue and opening curation to adult titles was a good way to do that.

Again, curation isn't something that is clearly defined and where the line should be drawn is different for everyone. GOG is a business in the end and they need to make money on the games that they sell here. Diversifying and expanding their catalogue helps them do that.

It's totally fine if you don't like something, because there's plenty of things that get released on GOG that I'm not interested in at all, and for those games I just ignore them. Aren't you and others capable of doing that also?

When you guys come into these release threads and attack them you do understand that you just galvanize the people who're actually into these games, right? You bring attention to them and ultimately help them in end, and in the process of doing that you make yourselves look intolerant, because anything you don't like shouldn't exist here.

Just open your mind a little bit, because intolerance is a horrible trait for any of us to have. That's not to say that light curation shouldn't still be a thing, but if you really look at the games releasing here you'd see no issue with quality RPG Maker games and good visual novels being a part of what's being released.

Like I said, in one of my earlier posts, don't sleep on some of these JRPGs, because while they may be adult games at their core with the unrated DLC's, you can still have an incredibly fun time with them. The same goes for some of the visual novels that release here.

Also, would you like to share with us all the RPG Maker games or the 3D rendered visual novels you've created? You seem to be an expert on the development of these kinds of works from your claims of them being low effort and cash grabs. If you genuinely think that, then you should actually try creating something yourself.

Agreed @TomNuke. I've talked with the devs of some of these. As I keep mentioning, Future Fragments is gonna be here and the demo is a lot of fun. It will even have a SFW mode. I really think people are going to like that game, just because of how well designed it is and how much work went into it. This is one that could bridge the gap between adult games and mainstream games because it handles the gameplay so well. Especially if you like Mega Man, Metroid and Contra.

I spoke with the dev on their Discord and mentioned that I didn't like the stun feature, because you have to wiggle the control stick a lot to get out of a stun. He said he was just gonna make it a button press in the full version and it would be disabled in SFW mode. So far, this is the best adult game I've played here in the west. So I'm excited for the final. I'd even play the SFW mode because it won't affect the story.

The same people will get upset and say "ewww, she's getting raped by robots" but that's just part of the genre. You just get used to it after awhile and it becomes silly. The same way the Japanese see it. But again, the game is made so that you can turn off the sex content too. So it works as a regular game. It's not really a Mega Man clone, because every stage has it's own mechanics. The demo throws you into the electric stage, where the mechanic is gravity control switches, so you have to manage your jumps properly in order to navigate the area, since some things can only be reached from being on the ceiling. Some of the movements are precision based, you have to a certain switch at the right time, the very second and then jump immediately after to get through the game's puzzles. Maybe a good description is Iconoclasts with sex? It's not far from that.

But yes, many of these devs are cool people, generally. They're not assholes and they appreciate fans and are willing to listen to their critique and criticisms. You can' t say that for too many AAA devs and companies. I feel like I'm heard with these indie adult devs and companies, compared to being shoved off by the big guys who would never dabble in adult games. That's a good feeling and I'm gonna support those people.

And yes, many WOMEN know what the game is about and gave their voices to the characters. Of their own volition. There is a lot of VA in the game, even in the demo, and the women, western women this time around, understood the concept of the game and are not offended at all by the fictional character getting raped. Because they know it isn't real. They have their voices in hundreds of lines for this game. Same with Shady Lewd Kart.

Why are all of you men being offended on behalf of women? Obviously the women don't seem to mind this stuff at all. If they did, they certainly wouldn't voice hundreds of lines in the game. Just saying.

Women are a little more discreet with their adult games, they don't really talk about it so much, but they're there as part of the adult gaming community. Currently i work on a complex multi threaded high performance processing software weighing at around 1.5 millions of lines of C++ code, but in my younger years I did some work on open source games and 3d renderings as a hobby.

I knew enough to know that I better quit early, since my renders were looking similar to the way these 3D porn games and comics look. Poor texturing, unnatural poses and terrible lighting was alI I could manage, so I know how little knowledge and effort it is needed to make something like that.

It might appear complex and difficult for someone who never tried it, but there is very small gap to cross from not knowing how to make a 3d image to making this bad a 3d image compared to insurmountable abyss that stands between this type of work and high quality render.
