Kelefane: The reviews on Steam are less than stellar.
I dont think they appreciate older game titles imho...:P

Krogan32:
Unfortunate, as a simple screenshot can disprove that unfounded belief.

My backlog is long enough that I have no problem waiting for many month(s)/year(s).

Edit: For the record, when given the option of having a complete version with full parity on GOG versus anywhere else, I'll choose GOG over the others every time.

timppu: HDD? SATA SSD? Ultra-high speed NVMe Express PCI-E generation 5 SSD?

I guess now that next gen consoles will have SSDs by default, it will become pretty much a requirement for PC games as well that they are run from SSDs. Maybe they still work also from HDDs, but causing issues like this. The seventh law of physics says that the bigger the game is, the more data there is to load, hence the longer the loading times will be. There is no way around that.

Whatever, I've already decided that with my next gaming PC (with 85% probability a thick gaming laptop, with 15% probability a desktop), I will not settle for anything less than a 1TB SSD (not SATA of course) as its primary drive. HDDs I'll keep using for storage and archives, usually through USB.
It's not a speed issue. I load new games that aren't just a fresh coat of paint on 8 year old titles just fine, with plenty of textures and models. Prey, DOOM Eternal, and other newer titles load up and play just fine, but this thing has unoptimized loading (taking over 2 minutes just to get to the main menu) and THEN has to pause while stream loading objects in the background.... This is some kind of terribleness.
So, what are peoples opinions on this remaster vs original?. Did they bother to jack up the difficulty level in the remaster?.

much better, the difficulty levels are now more distinct, though the end remains freaking hard either way
Still havent got it yet as i suspect i have a copy on Origin(been ages since i checked).
from people who have played the original, how the remaster compare when it comes to graphics and gameplay mechanics?. Any real differences that might jar ones who have played original like myself? (i also used a tool to sharpen the graphics on original wayy back...)

Its on 60% off for another day or so in a current sale...
