Ugh. Have they made the game harder is the most important question?

So you're telling us that this is not a game we should get for its quality writing, then. >:D

Niggles: Ugh. Have they made the game harder is the most important question?
FAQ says:

Will there be more balance to the game in terms of difficulty? it became too easy in the end
We've added a new difficulty called Very Hard, explained like this by the devs:

"First, we added a difficulty mode like all the others. They module damage output of enemies, health of players and allies and the amount of attacks that enemies may do at any one time.
Secondly, we fed the difficulty into how enemies level in respect to the player. On Very hard mode, levels will be higher, level cap for areas will be higher than on easier modes."

What additional gemplay changes have been performed?

Level lock has been removed
- The original game determined the level of a zone on first entering, this was stored in the save file. In Re-Reckoning we re-calculate the level every time entering or re-entering a level
New zone Level calculation
- The original game has all zones marked with a minimum and maximum level. on entering, the current player level was clamped into this minimum / maximum range and stored as level
- We now use the current difficulty level as a means to determine the level before clamping into the minimum / maximum range. On Casual difficulty, the player level is reduced a bit, on hard and very hard it is increased. We also increase the maximum values for hard and very hard difficulty
- The XP gain has been reduced to cater for the increased level of enemies and we made sure that XP is not increased when playing on harder difficulties due to the effect of beating higher level enemies
- The result is that you can still out-level zones – which is desirable if it doesn‘t happen too quick. It is part of the power fantasy to be able to come back to initial zones and be over powered – but out-leveling zones you play for the first time should only happen rarely
We also made the zone Level calculation easier to modify by modders (PC only)
Loot level lock of Containers removed
- Loot containers now only store their generated loot when they are opened while before they used to store it when entering a zone and were generated to the current player level
Loot generation was changed
- In Re-Reckoning loot generation rules are altered so that you will more often get items that fit your characters skillset. Loot is mostly randomly generated but we increased the weights of loot that matches the players skill lineup better and we have a virtual counter that increases the chance of better loot drops when you didn‘t find anything good
Didnt THQ bought this a couple years ago. Are we gonna get sequel? Even though I hope they invest in KCD series. KCD should go "Strategy RPG" imho. Maybe try that BG3's narrator idea, it sounds like a nice feature and opens many options.

The possibility of offering a discount to existing Steam owners through GOG is already present, GOG Connect - instead of getting the game, a coupon could be issued instead.

I really liked Kingdoms of Amalur but the ability that you could only switch between two weapons for combos absolutely ruined it. The combos you could've done has been something the devs unfortunatly acknowledged only after people showed them off. It has a ton of hidden potential which is unfortunatly concealed by the lacking weapon slots and the sometimes hideaous UI.

So much that the original devs wanted to add another slot so you could switch to more weapons to do larger combos. But they never released the patch because EA disbanded Big Huge Games before they could've released it. Modders tried to tackle this issue but this stuff was hardcoded and was basically untouchable to be included as a feature. I've read on forums years ago that people were still angry about the lack of this feature half a decade this game was released. It certainly was hugely demanded back in the day.

If the team behind the re-release ever implement this feature I'd buy this remaster at full price and for the people who I know love the game.

How do you get the coupon? I don't see it through gog connect :/

I was not saying there was, I was saying it's possible. Edited to be more clear.

My God the loading times are insanely long. I'm just stunned at waiting over 7 total minutes in an hour of play just on loading. That's more than 10% of my time!!!!

I'd recommend putting the game on SSD if the size were semi-reasonable, but unfortunately this game is one of those double-digit gigabyte size games that is too big for an SSD.

Game developers, *please* keep the file size reasonable! Also, try to keep load times reasonable as well, or provide an option to skip the loading and go straight into the gameplay.

(It sounds like we're going back into the era of floppies or of CD-ROMs where loading was slow.)
As I already have the original (in cd) I already have my saves.
Is there any info on using these saves from the original in this new remaster?

Leroux: [...] whatever happened to the original DLCs like Legend of Dead Kel and Teeth of Naros? Are they integrated into the main game of the remastered version, are they still to come, or were they ignored for the remaster?

amok: integrated into the remaster
Thanks!
