Smannesman: So what's new exactly?
According to the game's store page, there's environmental hazards (didn't exist before), new mounts (I'd suppose to replace the horse you had in the original game), and merchants.

Looking at the video, you can now ride a bear, a unicorn (which shits coins), a stag, and an armoured horse, and I assume there's also the earlier horse. There also seems to be a ship, but that may simply be what takes you to "The New Lands".

Ah well the mounts sound terrible, but 'New Lands' are nice I suppose.
I can't afford it, but it looks like it could be fun.
I've been eying this game for a while. The new content makes it even more attractive.
So just new content, no gameplay fixes. Tried the original once, it's OK but got boring relatively quickly. And this one is still RP and isn't it more expensive too? By 50%... Tell me if I'm wrong.

It seems that the original was $9.99, so yes, 50 % more expensive, or maybe even worse with the new regional pricing =/
Balance fix plz.

musteriuz: Was the original game called Kingdom: The Far Reaches?
avatar
PaterAlf: Not sure if you are serious, but the original game was simply called Kingdom.
Yes, I was serious. I have a game called Kingdom: Far Reaches in my gog account, but not one just called Kingdom. Which is why I was wondering if this was related to that.

You didn't have the original? This is a free update, you know.

Since New Lands was released, there is no longer any game on GOG simply called Kingdom. There was one earlier, but that one was upgraded to Kingdom: New Lands.

Nope.
And I currently only have an outcome, not an income so I'm probably not buying anything anytime soon.
Which is why I'm really hoping No Man's Sky sucks ;)

Kingdom the Far Reaches isn't related to this game in any way.
Kingdom: The far reaches is a Dragons Lair clone.
Does the queen now have huge tracts of land?
Thanks for the free upgrade. It's appreciated.
Hurm, just had a playthrough. I have to say it's a lot like the original, not running into much new at the moment. The only obviously new thing is that you get your coins from the traveling merchant instead of from the royal coffers. And you have to spend a coin to send him off in the morning. And he can be killed, which as far as I can tell pretty much ends your game, or at least turns it into a wait for death. I don't like this change.

I thought he was a tax collector, but travelling merchant sounds better :)

Even if he dies it doesn't mean automatic wait for death, only slower start. Warriors will still make some coins from hunting during day, and once you get farms, taxes/trade stop being interesting. I didn't know he can get killed, I guess sending him to trade in the evening is a bad idea. You can get rid of him in another way too - cut all trees around the village he goes to. After the village disappears he will just pack his donkey and wander off permanently the next morning.

I almost finished the second island. I could leave it already, but the monsters opened another portal when I was bit unprepared for it and I hate leaving unfinished business behind. It will take some work to reclaim my position and teach them a lesson, there are only two villages to recruit people from, and both are far from my castle. Still not seeing much new content. It seems they stretched original content over several islands - first one had no boost statues, second island only has archer statue, no sign of alternative mount on either of the islands. I hope we can start at later islands when starting new character.

So far two really new things - shipbuilding which is obvious and straightforward and costs huge amount of money (about two full purses). And then some signpost at far left side of the map, just before the mountain portal. Costs two coins to activate and I didn't notice any effect. I left it unactivated on the second island and will have to experiement a bit once I'm ready to leave.
