Slumdog secret agent.

UPDATE: Want to keep Kim's melodies close at hand for those relaxing homework sessions? Now you can, as all 9 tracks are included in the <span class="bold">OST</span>, available for purchase separately.

<span class="bold">Kim</span>, an open-world RPG inspired by Rudyard Kipling's acclaimed novel, is available now for Windows and Mac, DRM-free on GOG.com with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and leaderboards, and a 10% launch discount.

How will an Irish orphan living in 1880s India choose to navigate the political and spiritual opportunities presented to him? Kim may have been raised in the streets but soon his involvement with influential British operatives and his search for life's true meaning will put him on a path towards greater things. You get to decide that path using stealth, real-time-with-pause combat, and dialogue options drawn from Rudyard Kipling's work.

During the time that Kim was In Development, a sandstorm of changes washed away plenty of bugs and brought richer and more balanced features, making sure that this procedurally-generated RPG does justice to both the author's timeless tale and to the players' desire to retell it. What remains unchanged is your agency in how the story unfolds, following your carefully-made choices and your interactions with the unforgettable cast of characters.

Travel to colonial India and follow <span class="bold">Kim</span>'s bare footsteps as he dabbles in espionage and personal enlightenment, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 10% discount will last until November 1st, 3:59 PM UTC.

Not a fan of top-down, but this one looks interesting, so it's a whishlist item for the nonce.
That's strangely hypnotic.

Nice to see another InDev game getting released! Very interesting game partly due to the setting, I like it's UI (especially the Total Score screen infographic!) and the graphics are pleasing & relaxing to the eye, even though i'm not a big topdown view fan.
Always nice when an indev. turns into a full release. I caught some developer commentary in a stream once and they sounded like good people. Enjoy.
The idea and the look on its own sound kind of promising, almost threw a glance at the screenshots and was about to click wishlist to check it out later, then I read "generated" and no, just no. Please, developers, stop it. It leaves an aftertaste of absentminded design and uninspired, bland maps and scenery. Why would I want to learn about a virtual world when that world is boringly generated and has no human-made culture behind it? It's one of the worst things you can do right now, after games like subterrain and shadow warrior had their promise destroyed by it. Procedural generation ranks just above "rogue-like" and "survival".

Fesin: Damn, when I saw the title, I was hoping for a North Korea simulator.

tinyE: I was hoping for a 'Sonic Youth' or a 'Soundgarden' simulator.
..or Pixies or The Breeders...

HOW COULD I ROGET KIM DEAL!?

I'm such an asshole!
Choosing a path...sounds great, can I choose a path where I turn against the hated British overlords and fight them tooth`n nail?

Post-colonial nostalgia is rather sad, unfortunately fairly popular these days...

So has anyone picked this up? Any opinions on it vs. when it was in InDev?

Myself, I'm fascinated with both history, colonialism, and literature, and it's for those reason (in addition to the interesting setting and aesthetic) that I'm curious about buying it. Thing is, I'm still not sure about the gameplay itself.

Sounded good and I was thinking of buying it until I read it has "random, procedurally generated" landscapes. I was hoping for more historical accuracy.
Game looks interesting.

I'm not a big fan of top-down; but maybe I could used to it.

That it's "procedural" doesn't necessarily bother me. Several games I really enjoy are like that - including Invisible Inc, Renowned Explorers and Terraria. It just depends on how it's done...

But, due to the top-down; and the "a bit high" intro price, with scant discount; I'll wishlist it for now, and see what the "word on the street" is that develops for this title..

This year, following the release of 80 Days, I read verne's novel. Shall be picking up Kipling's Kim for Xmas. All the historical accuracy, British Colonialism & English Literature I could handle :)

TARFU: Tropico VI, now with more torture, oppression, and special "cold weather frostbite" DLC?

Fesin: And also much more things to look at!
Looking at "an airport gate"

- can't fool me, that's a still from Phantasm 5

Top-down. Ugh. I wish that stuff would die. It's why I could never get into the remake of Bard's Tale (despite the ever so tiny (ie worthless) "change" in perspective that you could activate).

From the title, I was expecting Kim Chee (a pet). Wouldn't that be yummy?

Maybe from the widely discussed reboot but not from Phantasm 5, because Phantasm: RaVager has premiered this month, and it's a very, very powerful conclusion to the story. Not a movie for teenagers, but if you're a Phan, chances are you'll love it. Or maybe hate it as much, but it's a phreaking great movie and even phreaking greater art. Also, an interesting strategy, as it premiered in cinemas simultaneously with digital distribution. Anyway, how about Kim looking closely at a silver sphere? ;)

LOL It would have to be 'looking back at him' - in an appropriate fashion!

Yes, good news about a re-boot & it would be fab to see Hollywood FX, but I gotta say as a fan since seeing the first one in the flicks, that I suspect the family ties & camaraderie will be down-played somewhat.

Heard mixed reviews of 5, couldn't find it in the shops, so *cough-downloaded-it-cough* and wow it's brilliant fun! So soon as it's out on DVD, I shall be purchasing it. Also wanna get hold of the 1-4 boxed set with commentaries/interviews.
looks interesting, but not quite enough interest to buy it yet. I think I will wait for a sale to give it a go.
