Dead Mountain.

<span class="bold">Kholat</span>, a game of survival and exploration, is available now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com with a launch 10% discount.

February 2, 1959. A group of hikers sets up camp on the eastmost side of Kholat Syakhl, Russia. A snowstorm rages.
February 3, 1959. There are no survivors. Nine bodies are strewn across the campsite and surrounding areas. Half-dressed, barefoot. Cuts in the tent indicate a frantic escape.
May 4, 1959. Authorities determine an "unknown, compelling force" to be the cause of the deaths.

Narrated by Sean Bean, <span class="bold">Kholat</span> takes place years after the infamous Dyatlov Pass incident, so named after the leader of the lost expedition. In it you'll traverse the treacherous forests of Dyatlov Pass on your search for the truth behind the mysterious tragedy. Explore an open world, relying on nothing more than a map, a compass and your instincts to survive the darkness that lurks beneath. If a real-life mystery and gameplay inspired by titles like Amnesia or Dear Esther aren't enough to pique your interest, then maybe "experimental horror game" will. In the words of the developers themselves, "<span class="bold">Kholat</span> is a game that doesn't follow mainstream game design rules but creates its own".

<span class="bold">Kholat</span> is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com! The 10% launch discount will last until June 22, 10:59 PM GMT.
Badass premise. So Penumbra minus the stupid instant death gas puzzle?
Kholat aka Beanbag Mountain.
Now this game looks interesting! Is it similar to Amnesia?

mqstout: Hey GOG, can we get some real screen shots, or does this game really have absolutely no UI whatsoever? They make it look like there's no game here at all. All I see are random images that seem to have no relation to a game or any interactive elements or anything. Dialog? Cursor? It says first person perspective... No HUD? No menus at all? Those things tell a hell of a lot more about a game than some "pretty pictures".
I think that's the idea -- it's mostly about exploring and investigating your environment, gathering clues to what's going on, and observing all sorts of weird shit!

A bit like The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, perhaps. Either way, it seems the emphasis is on exploration and atmosphere. Probably shouldn't expect any complex gameplay mechanics.
It looks very interesting and from what i can hear in the trailer, it sports a gorgeous & very emotive soundtrack too!
high rated
