And the Universe star(e)s back at you

<span class="bold">J.U.L.I.A. Among the Stars</span>, a narrative-driven sci-fi adventure game about unlocking the mysteries of a foreign solar system, is now available DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows and Linux, with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and a 50% launch discount.

It is the most carefully-laid plans that usually go awry in the most catastrophic manner. Top astrobiologist Rachel Manners wakes up from a decades-long cryogenic sleep inside a massive space probe, fully equipped and meticulously designed to carry out a recon mission on a solar system similar to our own. The rest of the crew is gone, the space ship is heavily damaged, and Rachel has no idea where in the universe she is. But perhaps J.U.L.I.A., the ship's A.I., does.

Rachel sets out to explore six exotic planets, accompanied by the hulking MOBOT, a reconnaissance robot that was built specifically for this mission. She must solve dozens of puzzles, overcome the obstacles of the unfamiliar terrain, and gather clues, in order to learn the reasons behind the mission's apparent failure and her crew's demise. How come she is the only one who survived? Did the mysterious signal that got them here have anything to do with all this? And how long will she manage to put up with J.U.L.I.A.'s shenanigans?

Join a lonely astronaut, a huge robot, and a temperamental A.I. as they venture in <span class="bold">J.U.L.I.A. Among the Stars</span>, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 50% launch discount will last until April 13, 1:59 PM UTC.

JudasIscariot: Writing to Support would be a bit more effective since the ratings are not something I can change myself :)
avatar
Senteria: Oh I caught you saying before you could remove reviews and such. :P I guess you can only remove or edit text, not change rating.
I can edit the content and remove the review but the rating is beyond me, I'm afraid.

HypersomniacLive: Wonder if we have any other backers on GOG. Would love to get it here, have to contact CBE Software to see if backers get GOG codes.
I've had generally good luck getting backer keys here on GOG. Moon Hunters, Slain!, and The Aquatic Adventure of the Last Human were all provided by the devs when I asked. Hopefully you'll have the same experience. It can help to remind the devs that GOG will provide them with the keys to distribute.

IAmSinistar: The three games mentioned were "sort of released", in that you could get them through the sale but not through the site (unless you knew the hidden URL). It's only now that they are publicly available.
Not that much hidden. You just had to remove the trailing "_coming_soon" from the URL to get to the "real" game card. :)

Classic GOG. :)
Congrats to my fellow countryman for releasing a game, which looks great by the way :).

With the exception of Double Fine, my experience has been pretty positive so far too. And Jan Kavan is a nice guy, so I'm quite hopeful. Will send him an email tomorrow, and report back here when he gets back to me.

OdanUrr: I added my review but it got the rating wrong! It appears as 3/5 instead of 4/5. I can't edit it. Help?
You can change your previous "star rating" of the game at the top of the User Reviews section of the gamecard, just to the right of where it says "Average rating". Does it not show that after you've posted a review, or does changing that just not update the star rating included in the header of your review? (I've never posted a review here, so I'm not sure if anything changes.)

HypersomniacLive: Very nice! I backed this on Indiegogo, CBE Software fun a great, and engaging campaign, and had a great time following its development before family health issues surfaced.

Wonder if we have any other backers on GOG. Would love to get it here, have to contact CBE Software to see if backers get GOG codes.
Another backer here :)
Jan already made an update in the IndieGoGo campaign a couple of weeks ago to let us know that the game would have come to GOG and that he had already asked and received the key for the backers (other developers should learn from him, most usually gives code for one store of choice). Here, check the last update https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/j-u-l-i-a-enhanced-edition#/updates
Maybe you disabled the notification or the mail got in the spam folder (that usually let spam pass and block important email :|)

Generally yes but there are more than one case were that didn't happen. Sometimes that was explained as being GOG fault or their policy (up until recently they only gave GOG codes for games that was not released elsewhere). However, not that it is proved that it is fairly simple to get those keys and that they cost noting, there are still recent case of developers that didn't bother to provide that option to their backers. Lately it was Hyper Light Driter, where the game release wasn't handled in a good way at the expense of the backers. And no GOG code.

Anyway I really suggest JULIA for its great feeling of mystery and the good story telling.

This is the very first J.U.L.I.A. email I didn't get, and it's not in the spam folder either. Odd.
Thanks for the heads up, spared me the embarrassment of contacting Jan about this.

I'm afraid it's locked. I've already contacted support so I hope they'll get the issue fixed soon. There's also a minor problem with the review itself and the use of " that is replaced with & quot;.

That's weird that the rating visible in reviews doesn't auto-update whenever that user changes their rating for the reviewed game; hopefully, when they get around to overhauling the review system (adding the option for a user to edit or delete their own reviews, as well as re-adding the ability to sort reviews by date), this will be something else that will be fixed.

Regarding "&quote" and other weird character replacements -- did you compose your review entirely within the edit window, or did you copy & paste from some external source like a word processor?

There are others of us here. And yes, I seem to recall Jan mentioning GOG codes.

I wrote it entirely within the edit window but I was writing from an iPad so that probably caused this headache. The site doesn't work very well on a tablet.

I'm not sure that'd cause it; I think it might just be a bug in the site itself.

Also, I just noticed that in my own post, that ' &quot ' (which I mistyped as ' &quote ') showed up just as typed; but in your quote of my post, ' &quot ' was replaced with the actual " character (and left that extra "e" :D ). That's kind of odd.

There exist a demo for the original version.
