Watch out for that tree!

Jill of the Jungle: The Complete Trilogy is now available for FREE. To celebrate her arrival, the Jazz Jackrabbit Collections are 33% off and the Unreal series 80% off until November 5th, 11pm UTC.

Re-discover this cult platform series from Epic starring a spunky amazon lady who can morph into various animals in order to access unreachable areas and kick copious amounts of evil butt.

MartiusR: Nice, big surprise that it's for free. Wondering if Xargon is also on its way to GOG.
avatar
ChainsawGenie: Believe it or not, the author of Xargon and Kiloblaster, Allen Pilgrim, made both games freeware back in August 2008.

Among other places, you can find it on this site.

And feel free to search the rest of the site, as well. ^_^
Still, having this game on GOG would be nice.
Shelf counter: 666 :-P

CAL027: Fantastic news! Used to play this game a lot back in my childhood. :)
Any chance of the Xargon trilogy next?
avatar
hedwards: Xargon is already freeware. I wouldn't expect it coming here unless there's another Epic title that they want to push. These freebies cost a bit of money for them to process, but are also excellent for promos when they want to get people coming in.
Ah, that's fair enough :)
Thanks to GOG's new layout, I have noticed these new games only today! :(

Anyway, great additions to GOG catalogue. I have always loved the Jill of the Jungle series. Will check out them again for sure. Thank you GOG and Epic!

idbeholdME: Might as well throw in UT2003 to complete the series on GOG. I have no idea why the world seems to act like that game doesn't exist.
avatar
ChainsawGenie: As I understand it, all of the maps and other features of UT2003 are in the 2004 version so 2003's addition would be unnecessary..

I'm with you on UT3, though (particularly the Black Edition). ^_^
It is still a standalone entry in the series. And there are quite a few differences between 2003 and 2004. Some weapon models/sounds are different, bots behave differently (they are much better in 2004 than 2003) and then there is of course the completely different single player tournament. I play both 2003 and 2004 from time to time and they definitely feel like a different experience.
thanks for game! never played it before. heck...never heard of it before.

At least it's freelly available and it's probably not any harder to get running than it was originally. But, that being said, it was a rather small game and I don't think it ever required haxxoring the memory system to get it to fit into the available low memory.

dr.schliemann: I noticed there isn't a subforum for the game: I suppose this is a mistake because Jill surely deserves her own.
avatar
Cavalary: Yeah, still none it seems. Maybe they'll get around to it Monday?
Maybe. But which Monday? :-)

Good question. Is this the only game with no forum link?

Densetsu: Thank you Epic Games and GOG for this nice freebie.

avatar
KingofGnG: Well, this is... unexpected. And welcome. I still have the original box of the Jill trilogy here on my shelves :-P

Should I attach a photo?
avatar
Densetsu: You have a big box release? What a curiosity. Please do.
As promised, I've uploaded a nice photo of my boxed copy of Jill's Trilogy. It's attached to this post in all its 24 megapixels glory :-P.

Now there's something that bothers me: GOG's download weighs 15 MB, and yet the entire trilogy is packed in a single 1,44 MB floppy disk; when installed under DOSBox, it just needs 2,67 MB. Even considering DOSBox weight, the latest version of the VM (0.74-2) needs 4,35 MB of space on disk when installed. So the total amount of used space is 7,02 MB, a far cry from the 15 MB of GOG's download.

So, where did the 8 additional Megabytes go? It's just the installer overhead or there's something more in there? I still have to try the GOG version, so I'm asking just out of curiosity....

The Linux version unpacked is 12.2MB where the game itself is 2.7MB, and the rest is DOSBox (Libraries, exe's and the source code too). I imagine the Windows installer is similar except that carries extra bulk with installer slides.
low rated

Thanks for notification; this game was only ever available in our country as shareware, so it's nice to see the boxed edition. Nice touch that they have preserved the original cover art.

Interesting promo screen too. I had no idea it's "Far better than Nintendo!". ;)

As for file size, Sensible World of Soccer has a much larger download size in comparison to the size of the original game, which is because of the scanned manual GOG have added to the game folder. Could be the same reason here.

Dunno. GOG lists the manual among the additional "extras", so I assume it's a different download...
