Ion Fury is now available DRM-free.

While Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison earned her codename defusing bombs for the Global Defense Force, when evil transhumanist mastermind Dr. Jadus Heskel unleashes the members of his cybernetic cult onto the streets of Neo DC, she knows it’s time to start causing explosions instead of preventing them.

Nice to see a well-received Bombshell game.

Anyone know why they altered the name from Ion Maiden? I liked the pun, so I'm a bit sorry to see the game released as Ion Fury.

Because they were threatened to be sued by Iron Maiden. They preferred to change the name rather than risking a long an uncertain legal battle.

Because the band Iron Maiden sued 3D Realms over the name. So they changed it.

I played it for some time.

I am enjoying it for the most part, I like the fast paced action, the movement speed, the, at least for now, non bullet spongy enemies.

But the things I honestly don't like is how stingy they are with ammo. As a result I have to play it more conservatively, by doing hit and run attack to conserve ammo because I am always afraid to end up without any ammo even for the starting gun.

That's kind of a shame to have an "old school" shooter but have to play it somewhat like a "modern" one because of ammunition scarcity.

Yeap, it's pretty challenging because you have fewer ammo items on that difficulty while more enemies. I don't like that decision at all.
EDIT: Ultra Viscera difficulty (for veterans)

The game runs on EDuke 32, so everything you can do with EDuke 32 you should be able to do with it.
