Ion Fury is now available DRM-free.

While Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison earned her codename defusing bombs for the Global Defense Force, when evil transhumanist mastermind Dr. Jadus Heskel unleashes the members of his cybernetic cult onto the streets of Neo DC, she knows it’s time to start causing explosions instead of preventing them.

Her quest to slay Heskel leaves a trail of carnage throughout huge, multi-path levels filled with gigantic explosions, more secret areas than we can count, and inhuman foes behind every corner. There’s no regenerating health here; stop taking cover and start running and gunning.

why you care how and where i spend my money, friendo ?

HunchBluntley: I don't. Just curious about your thought process, and how far your (apparent) obsession with achievements goes...
avatar
falloutttt: if game don't have achievements, i simply pirate them, that's all. :)

HunchBluntley: ...and the answer would seem to be, "It goes pretty far."
Anyway, how does "devs didn't want to add/have time to add/care about adding achievements" equate to "game is asking to be pirated"?

To be clear: I can kind of understand an insistence that devs/publishers have feature parity among different store services on the same platform...even though client-based "meta-features" are kind of different from the in-game features. But insisting that a game that doesn't have achievements in any version add them, or you'll never buy it? Seems kind of extreme to me. (I'll just ignore the "...but I'll still play it lol" part.)
nothing extreme here, unless one make it look like there is...

you don't need to understand anything about me, my way of thinking, etc...

it's good to be curious, but even drinking water too much can be bad. ;)

TheMonkofDestiny: I tend to look at achievements as an added incentive toward replayability. A game could be the dullest butterknife in the drawer but I'd go back to it to complete the achievements. Conversely, the game could be really fun and if I'm gonna go back and play it again, having something else to do other than just re-play it doesn't rain on my second (and so on) playthrough parade.

Retroman88: Thank you and I can totally respect your point also - maybe I am just getting old at 31 but achievements have never been a thing for me. The only game I actively try and get achievements in is World of Warcraft and even then it's only so that I can fly in the new zones.
games like CKII and EUIV have the best "type" of achievements.

when you played those games for 100's of hours, you need some kind of "extra" objective. that's when to me achievements are absolutely useful and fun.

For god gave man the power to gamify exercise and labour, and man did rejoice as his burden was lifted. But beware the achievement hunter who gamifies the act of playing a game, for he is the devil's rectum. - Mark 3:16

I have played games like the original Unreal Tournament for 100s of hours and I enjoy them as much as I did when I was younger. I am of the opinion that if the game is good then it will entertain you regardless of achievements. That being said I can at least see the point your making although I still think it is a bit extreme not to buy a game because achievements aren't in. By the sounds of it your obviously going to enjoy it so I would just buy it and if achievements are added at a later date then you have that excuse for a second play through.
I'll wait for the reviews;when a game attempts to be this retro, it easily backfires,
Sp basically the main character is sort of a lady Duke Nukem.
I am not interested in acheivments at all, just never got the point.
Great finaly released seems like forever since early access bagan but seems well worth it. Got to love the tracker music brings me back to the 16 bit era.

Na! I only support devs that sell their game on GOG for the same price with all the extra, same like on all the other stores. End of story! :)
One of the best purchases I ever made. I am glad the game is finally out :)
Been playing it the past hour and I must say this is one game where I can truly call an oldschool/retro shooter. It also reminded me what a pain in the rear was to find all secrets in a level.

It's fun, highly recommended and plays on a potato!
It looks like this is the better Bombshell. And it even comes with Linux support! But why requiring to have bought Bombshell to get access to the Ion Fury demo?
Now that Oin Fully has been released, the demo should be made available to eberyone.

eiii: But why requiring to have bought Bombshell to get access to the Ion Fury demo?
Doesn't really matter much now, as I believe they've included the demo/preview campaign as a bonus mission accessible from within the game regardless of having dumped money on Bombshell.
I am already rampaging and splattering DC with cybercultist's biomechanic entrails. Shelly, love of my life! <3

Wow, can I add you as a friend on TPB? Give me your The Pirate's Bay account username so we can compare achievements!

...

Oh, wait. Pirated games don't have those. How can you even play pirated game then? They are a vastly inferior product, with no achievements and all! (/s)

One achievement in every pirated game?
Uhmmm... being a douche?
Just got this, enjoying it a lot!

If you enjoyed Duke Nukem 3D and other such oldschool shooters definitely pick this up.

It just *feels* so good - The instant responsive movement, the ability to run at 100mph, the gunplay XD

It's so smooth in fact that for the first time in as long as I can remember I start to get motion sickness if I play it too long...!!

The level design is such a breath of fresh air - Interestingly designed levels with lots of colour, where not everything makes sense from a realism point of view but screw that because it makes the game better. Which is the right way to do things IMHO.

It's a lot less forgiving than the sluggish modern shooters of modern times and my reflexes are not as sharp as they used to be, but damn this feels good, like a comfy old sofa that also tries to kill you.

The music fits the period - I thought it was some sort of wavetable MIDI but apparently it's FastTracker2-based .XM so plus points for keeping on theme!

Definitely won't be for everyone, but for people that haven't found much in modern releases that really clicks with them, this is worth a shot!
