Ion Fury is now available DRM-free.

While Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison earned her codename defusing bombs for the Global Defense Force, when evil transhumanist mastermind Dr. Jadus Heskel unleashes the members of his cybernetic cult onto the streets of Neo DC, she knows it’s time to start causing explosions instead of preventing them.

Her quest to slay Heskel leaves a trail of carnage throughout huge, multi-path levels filled with gigantic explosions, more secret areas than we can count, and inhuman foes behind every corner. There’s no regenerating health here; stop taking cover and start running and gunning.

GameRager: It wasn't too bad, but the bad PR wasn't helping and the refunds and cancelled orders outweighed the outrage mob who wanted the censorship. Common sense business moves won in the end, it would seem.

kmanitou: I guess it must have been distressing a bit. I'm glad I did my part, however little it may matter.
Was it the side of boycott or refund? If so then(considering sales at that point) it likely didn't impact it much...sad to say. They likely more wanted to shut up the ones who got outraged after the fact just ti shut them up and not hurt future sales....they likely made a good amount of locked in sales regardless.

It was principled of you to stick to your beliefs, though, at any rate.

(I am not trying to rain on anyone's parade here....just stating my take on the matter and reality)

Sanity won. Good, I hope everyone learned today's very special lesson.

I was very unlikely to get a refund, but to be fair I had hardly played it and exposed my thoughts to GOG and they were very understanding. I wouldn't have been able to enjoy the game anyway. I'm planning on buying Minoria tomorrow, which I am sure to enjoy after Momodora.

It was a bit odd to see all the positivity and the praise get flushed down the drain as soon as some strange pressure came from nowhere. It's too bad the game was tainted like that, because it really ruined the mood. Hopefully this serves as an example on how not to handle a non-crisis. It seems well made, I hope others enjoy it. I might still get Dusk later and maybe Ion on a deep sale or bundle one day.

What a strange industry and situation.

What would it look like in Cyrillic characters?

I'm going to be cautiously optimistic and think it more likely corporate realized they needed to side with the people who made the game. I looked at recent discord screens and it's clear that if the devs had to suffer through "sensitivity training", all it taught them was some brand new insults for child molesters.

Most likely "пробудись, разорись".
(Wokeness isn't really a thing in Russia outside of a couple of "lifestyle" rags for proud imbeciles of the female persuasion. Russian libs are classical, pro free speech libs, and Russian commies are also pro free speech and socially conservative. Certainly no one is thinking the base should bend over for the superstructure.)
Either way, censorship is bad. Doesn't matter who is doing it, artists should be free to make what they like.

If only. A developer paid a $10,000 fine for being heterosexual males, simply as a kneejerk reaction. It makes supporting them less appealing, because what happens when someone else finds something to be offended by and they self-flagellate another chunk of the game's sales away before they put their brains back in their heads?

Good luck convincing the hypocrites, who think the entire world should revolve around them and their special (snowflake) needs! They are against censorship, alright; until somebody dares to joke about their condition.

Can GOG remove reviews because of review bombing? Steam supposedly has anti-review bombing mechanisms, which is why I ask.

On second thought no, just no.

But at least devs found their balls in the end. So, there is a hope that next time more people will take more firm stance against internet-mob.

The devs had always had their balls intact, in place and fully functional. The PUBLISHER is the one who cut them off and donated to those who cut them off, from others.

Ok, now would be the PERFECT time for gog to tuck its tail between its legs, remove Ion Furry from the catalogue and then go yelping to Twitter and ResetEra about how sorry they are, how they had no idea, how it was all an honest mistake.

Nothing could possibly go wrong! Trust me, I have a degree in marketing, I know what I'm talking about!

1st bit: Fair enough, and I hope you someday get to enjoy it and like what you experience.

2nd bit: Or comic sans....or webdings.

True, but I also think they saw all the potential profit loss and wanted to stem the leak....which seems good business sense, tbh.

Not to pick on you personally, but If it's any of the following being parroted on steam forums I can see why.

Stuff like:

"They(devs/pub) caved to h8 and big*try"

"Censoring h8 is not censorship"

"Mean words hurt and can cause major hurt worldwide"

I don't think ANY reviews should be removed....ever. If the site allows rating of reviews people can mark thw good ones and the bad ones as they are.

I only advocate for this as to me removing such is also censorship and also(big also here) it allows us to see who knows their games and who is just trying to push an agenda via reviews.

Did you buy it from that one woman who tried coercing gog to have her give advice on Cyberpunk? If so it's likely more valuable as TP. *shrugface*
