Into The Stars launched in early 2015 as an early access title, and has since evolved immensely thanks to community feedback. It recently received a huge overhaul to the combat and management systems, as well as tons of new content with more meaningful choices and many more branching stories. Today's launch brings a complete UI overhaul, even more content, and many other improvements. For more info on what's changed, check out the developer's changelog.

justanoldgamer: Looks good but I have to put it on the wishlist for now. Is it really rogue like i.e. no save?
There's the option to save and quit, but it's game over if you die.

EckoShy: Can someone confirm, does this game have turn based combat? And all from in the view of the cockpit? Or do the screenshots deceive me a bit?
It's not turn based combat but volley based - your shields/weapons have cooldown times that you've to take into account. You can switch between cockpit view and outside view.

Ahhhhh more horrible yellow text! ;)

All joking aside, it's nice seeing another developer here supporting their game and showing a bit of interaction with the community here. I know I say it every time but it does mean a lot.

Is there a bugfix planned? :P

Kidding; but seriously no. Sounds insanely interesting that game; totally a explore, tryout and mess up thing. But not without a proper save-game option.
Always good to see a developer in the forum. I'll catch the opportunity: Will the Deluxe Version be available on GOG also?

Not sure atm, but if GOG allows I don't see why not.

Thanks for the answer. One more question, if I may, is there a pause mode to give commands or does the fight has to be in pure real time?

IwubCheeze: Okay, wishlisted this title but I'm going to need to do some research on it first. Glad to see space sim games coming back somewhat.

But......*sigh*........that 8GB of RAM. Really sucks being stuck with a laptop you got back in 2010 :(
My laptop is almost 5 years old now (i7) but it always had 8 Gig of ram luckily, I think our problem might be that it only supports a certain screen size. My laptop max res is 1377x768 and it says 16:10 and 16:9 supported which is a worry.

Wishlisted for now, need to do some research. Also the thread mentions deluxe edition so I will wait for that rather than buy now.

Hello, lovely to see a developer here. Thank you for being on the forums.
I have some questions if I may

1. Am I able to "save" those save files so when I die, I can restore them? Sure this is not built in but can I go to the place where they are saved, copy them before I die and then put them back so the game thinks I am alive still. I know this is not the intention, I understand that but I dislike Rogue style so I always restore my games when I play them.

2. My laptop screen is not 16:9, only 1366x768 is this resolution supported ? I don't mind if I see black bars on the top or bottom.

Thank you in advance :)

Save scummer! ;)

I actually did this once with Don't Starve. I had a major computer wipe and reinstall and the first time I fired Don't Starve back up I promptly died. "Hey" I thought, "why don't I just paste that backup save right back in..."

Boy did I feel dirty after like the fifth time ;)

100% or at least if we can go to where the save games are, copy them before the game wipes them and then restore. I agree. Multiple save slots / restore is a must. I understand that is not the intention but so long as there is a way around it. :)

:) Indeed. I have to have multiple saves because I fork saves as well. Yes it is a must. No way I will play hours and days and then lose it all no way. :) People can play the way they want, I play the way I want :) well............that is, if it is possible. We will see what the devs says. Hopefully I can "save" the saves else I can't buy this title.

The only thing I'm playing now a days are expensive indies, so maybe I should be quiet. :P
How about soundtrack?
Will we see it as DLC upgrade here as well?
Hey, a nice looking space game! Now I wonder would I like those game mechanics or not. Sure reminds me of The Ur-Quan Masters (Star Control 2), which is not a bad thing at all.

Starmaker: There are cash-in trends, but they don't happen because a theme is due a resurrection, they happen when someone craps out a commercial hit.
Star Citizen has pulled in over $100 million and isn't even finished yet, just sayin'.

Anyway this game sounds like loads of fun, count me in. Not sure my 650Ti can handle it though...hmm, Pascal may be coming but I feel a questionable strategic purchasing decision coming on. Shiny!

edit: Should mention, I'd also be wanting a reload savegame feature or at least a means of fudging it ala Dwarf Fortress. Hardcore mode isn't really my style.

Actually, I think gotta bigger problem ;). To cut a long story short, my old laptop died and I needed a new one the next day for work. Problem is, I didn't have the cash on hand to buy a better than I did so I had to settle for a lower end one. Waiting a little to save up more cash simply wasn't an option. Here's the specs (No laughing)

Intel i3-380M (Dual core, 2.53GHz)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M
2GB DDR3 (Upgraded to 4GB)

There's simply no way I can run anything recently released on this and this laptop needs to last another year at least. That video card just doesn't cut it. Loading up The Witcher 2 on this was funny, the colours all looked like stained glass :D

Still, not a big deal considering I still have a backlog of games to deal with in the meantime.:)
