The mass production effect

Industry Giant 2, an isometric industry manager simulator, is now available DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 15% launch discount.

A lot of videogames give players the chance to live out their fantasies. For most of us, owning a multibillion-dollar business will never escape that realm so this our best opportunity at becoming a true Industry Giant 2.

Despite appearances, a successful business is a far more complicated affair than simply crunching numbers in an effective manner. You need vision, adaptive thinking, the will to act. There are events out of your control, like economic crises and political events, that can change your business plan overnight. For that to happen, though you first need to come up with one. Do you want to focus on a single product or do you want to expand across different industries? Who will provide you with raw materials, which market should you push them to, and how will your goods physically reach that place? Start from the beginning of the previous century and live through historical events like the prohibition, as you make the harsh decisions that will keep your business going and growing into a self-sustained industry giant.

Choose from a wide variety of products and build your own Industry Giant 2, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 15% launch discount will last until April 14, 1:59 PM UTC.

IronArcturus: Looks pretty cool! So is it more like Transport Tycoon or SimCity? Does it have windowed mode?
I guess it would be more like Sim City meets Capitalism 2.

Vythonaut: Just looked at your screenshot - Who makes such a typo on a launcher? :D
I can't spot anything -- what typo?

Heh, no wonder you find my post "misleading"! :p

JudasIscariot: We don't have the Gold Edition hence the reason those wishes are not completed. It's a remastered/polished up version of IG2.
avatar
blotunga: Any idea if the expansion also gets the remaster treatment?
Not that I know of, sorry.

tfishell: (He included the screenshot to show he had the Gold Edition on DVD.)

I probably should have noticed it wasn't GOG-style installer. I assumed maybe he had bought it, installed it, and that was just the thing that started up before the game.
I, for one, would've believed him without the screenshot. :)

It looks like that program in his screenie could serve as both installer and launcher (there's a greyed-out option for 'Start Game'). There's any number of GOG games that have a separate launcher program which is what the official GOG desktop shortcut points to; that's why I didn't find it weird.
Great. I have been seeing this on Gamersgate and wanted to buy it. But always worry it could not run on modern system; so I didn't buy it there. Now it is on GOG, I don't need to worry again :)

Well, wish listed for now though.

Well the launcher has a pretty interesting spelling of "Edition" ;)

How is the 2nd version different from the first version?

Jesus, I looked at the screenshot like five or six different times (most of those after I read the comment about the typo), and I just now spotted "Edtion". X[

i guess i might get it later , tbh, i am to 'dumb' to be able to play games like this, i manged to get the old version i have to play so i can see how the game plays but there are so much options within options and thats too much for my poor brain too handle.

I can manage to finish some adventures/point and click games, and some simple puzzles, but all that building is not my kinda of job.

i saw the game also on GamersGate, they have a lot of 'differnt' games you wont see on steam or anywhere else, some of these are very good, i have these on my shelf.
As you said, problem is that there is very little fixing of games that might not work on GG.
They also have early access games, but i wonder how they gonna update that, steam has an active way of doing it, and GoG also has a good way, but GG(gamersgate), i dont know.

Thats why GoG is the best compared to the rest, and we also have a good community that solve lots of problems, i think its one of the best around if i compare it with other forums i am member of.

Most forums are a mess, thats why i am seldom online there :D

Just try a little harder! After you see it, you cannot unsee it! :P

Hint: it is written in gold font.

Yeah it is like an extremely simplified version of Capitalism, but prettier

So the user doesn't have control over specific routes like in Transport Tycoon?
