The penitent man shall Use Item On...

Indiana Jones® and the Last Crusade™, the classic point'n'click adventure starring Henry Jones Jr. and his disapproving dad, is now available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 25% launch discount.

He hates snakes. He hates Nazis. He hates being called "Junior" by his dad. But he loves a good adventure, even if it contains all of the above.
This time, hands-on archeologist Indiana Jones is on the trail of the Holy Grail, but so are Adolf Hitler's lackeys. Tracking down the resting place of the last Knights will send both Indy and his dad on a journey full of cunning puzzles, spooky crypts, double-crossing dames, and a constant need for their unique brand of problem solving: improvisation and fisticuffs. Based on the last movie of the franchise (yes, the LAST one), The Last Crusade contains many locations that never appeared on the big screen, plenty of old-school action, and tons of well-placed references that may or may not belong in a museum.

Punch Nazis with your fedora on, solve puzzles with your whip, and try to keep up with the Joneses as they investigate Indiana Jones® and the Last Crusade™, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 25% discount will last until December 28, 10:59 PM UTC.

Sir_Kill_A_Lot: The game supports PC-Speaker, Adlib and Game Blaster and uses ScummVM which you can be used to switch between sound emulation.
It also comes with its original interpreter (e.g. for use in DOSBox or in a VM) which supports commandline switches (try /? :-) to select different sound options.

timppu: Oh, that's a nice surprise then! In 1989 sound card support in PC games was still emerging I believe, so apparently LucasArts was quite an early adopter. Ok, King's Quest IV (1988) also supported sound cards, must have been one of the very earliest ones.

It would be extra nice if Last Crusade supported also Roland MT-32, but I'll have to see about that. But hey, KQ4 did support MT-32 too!
I think and [url=https://www.gog.com/game/the_secret_of_monkey_island_special_edition]Monkey Island 1 were the first ones from Lucasfilm Games supporting Roland MT-32.
also had support, but not [url=https://www.gog.com/game/indiana_jones_and_the_last_crusade]Indy3.
(The EGA versions require a separate Roland Update)

Btw. I'm getting old... I'm using a macro to do 'Look at' and 'What is' via right click in Indy3 now :-)

saluk: It's an adventure game until it randomly turns into a pretty poor mix between street fighter and a roguelike - except minus any health potions.
In Indy4 you could choose between Team mode, more puzzles or more action.

In Indy3 there weren't those separate branches but there was always a way to circumvent action/fighting by using wits.
In the castle it's most of the time a dialog puzzle but depending on the guard you have to put on different disguises.

I'm not getting any younger either and that's a good idea. First thing in the game I pressed the L key and nothing happened. Oh. Also mouseover does not reveal interactive spots so it's click fest.

No no, you have to select the 'What is' verb, then it shows hotspots on mouse over. Still it's inconvenient if you are used to more modern UIs (like Indy4 :-)

What I like about the older games is that they are using hotkeys depending on the verb location. e.g. Look at is 'x'.
That makes it IMHO easy to find the correct verb without looking on the keyboard and also they are near each other, vs. close and push with 'c' and 'p' (which is also problematic with translations!).

Thanks, I hadn't read the manual - I'll have to - and it wasn't obvious to me! So it works like Zak! I have played that but my squirrely brain didn't get it! -_-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the FM Towns version come with recorded music?
Btw. this is the macro I am using because I'm lazy (using X-Mouse Button Control on Windows):
On right click: Simulated keys: c{WAITMS75}x{WAITMS75}{LMB}{WAITMS75}x{WAITMS75}c

Yes, FM-Towns version was released on CD with audio tracks. Would be nice if it could be added to GOG...

radastan: ¿And spanish text? Original game have spanish version.

Tyrrhia: Without the sale, it would cost me €5.99 compared to the €5.59 it would cost me on GOG—so, more expensive.
The thing is, that is true, but only in certain parts of the world. If I were to buy it from steam at full price, I will pay about $0.03 more than what it cost at GOG at the current discount amount
Why is the 4 pages reference card numbered from 47 to 50! Beats me.

Tyrrhia: It does not cost €1.49 on Steam; it currently costs €1.49. That’s a big difference. And the reason why that is is because Steam currently is in its Winter Sale period, and it so happens that this game is 75% off. Without the sale, it would cost me €5.99 compared to the €5.59 it would cost me on GOG—so, more expensive.

Different stores hold sales at different times is all.

Cecco: Yes, they both are on sale and the GOG one is a second class discount. I respect that you think it's ok. I make my choice to boycott anything Disney from now on.

That said, I'll try to just enjoy the game now!
Well, GOG’s discount is a release discount, while Steam’s discount is a usual discount. So I don’t think it’s really fair. If the next time it goes on sale on GOG and the discount is worse than Steam’s, however, then I would call it a second‐class discount.

Anyway, enjoy!

Oh. That’s because regional pricing is at play, right? So, countries with a currency weaker than the dollar are disadvantaged on GOG?

Our prices on steam (those I checked) is on average 15-28% cheaper on steam, thus GoG is more expensive than Steam.

Damn, that sucks. It’s not like it’s a small difference, too.
Maybe DRM-free is now treated as a luxury item ;),which would explain the price difference.Cheers
I am happy to pay 15-28% more for DRM-free games.
I will never buy any DRM stuff that is 15-28% cheaper.

Exactly! It's a game that's already old on Steam, so the release discount should have reflected that IMHO. Some games have had a high release discount, like 50% or even 80%. Maybe I was more bugged by that than I should had, but...

I am playing with Indiana Jones movie soundtracks in the background to minimize the downside of not having a soundtrack. Maybe I will replay the FM Towns version in Japanese later. :D It seems like I complain a lot! But it's because I like this games, with all their primitive creative and technical efforts.
