Impossible is nothing. If not fun!

<span class="bold">Impossible Creatures</span>, an outrageous RTS that lets you "mesh" around with animal DNA and build your own mutant army, DRM-free on GOG.com. Get it now with the 40% launch discount.

Noah put two of every animal in the Ark. This was cool at the time, but now along comes Rex Chance, a '30s war correspondent, curious to see what happens when you smush two animals into one. Why? Because DNA fusion is fun, and because he thinks there is great untapped potential in these strange pairings. Unfortunately, so does Upton Julius, the megalomaniac villain who stole the mysterious Sigma technology for himself, and is now threatening to conquer the world with his own army of mutant beasts.

Collect animal DNA, build your own unique units, and defeat Julius and his evil lieutenants in 15 different maps stretching across jungles, deserts and snow-ridden landscapes that make up the mysterious Isla Variatas. Create your own menacing winged scorpion, adorable kangaroo-shark, angry horned bear or any other Impossible Creature you desire - the possible combinations are only limited by your own imagination (or gross-out threshold). Then, go online and test your DNA-fusing skills against other wannabe-mad scientists in three different multiplayer modes.

Play God in this 3D hybrid of strategy and creativity, as your <span class="bold">Impossible Creatures</span> march forward, DRM-free on GOG.com. Get them now with a launch discount that will last until next Thursday, December 3rd, 1:59 PM GMT.
A Relic game? Cool.
I wonder if that means other Relic games like Company of Heroes and Warhammer 40k Dawn of War will appear soon on GOG?

Nordic seems to have the rights for IC, while CoH and DoW are both Sega. If Sega signs up then we'd probably get them rather quickly.

ReynardFox: Oh look at that, a strategy game, don't see those too often around here.

Other genres exist GOG, just because you don't play or understand them doesn't make them any less worthy of release here.

Sorry people who like these games, I'm not able to quit harping on this so long as GOG deliberately snubs high quality arcade/console style games that I and others want.
If you're really serious about this, you may want to post a text thread on a relevant sub-reddit (like r/games) - a place with more traffic than here - calling attention to this situation. (Still love you GOG but...)
Excellent! This one goes straight to the top of the wishlis! Now GOG needs to get and [url=http://www.mobygames.com/game/genewars]Gene Wars! And any other "GMO" games that are out there. :-)

Gnostic: For a moment I thought you are referring to the developer of After Reset who sell his other business to fund the game. So I am wondering what is dishonest about him.

I know you probably get the reference but just in case someone doesn't...

I was actually referring to the U.S. president who was known as "Tricky Dick" (see footnote 62 )

thebream: Nice release, didn't expect it at all. Will other Relic Games be available on GOG soon?
avatar
Grargar: Relic has no say as to whether the rest of the games they have developed will come here. Homeworld is now owned by Gearbox and Company of Heroes/Dawn of War belongs to Sega. Without either of those companies here, the answer is no.
Oh well, it was wishful thinking. GoG had some Warhammer games and I was hoping it might mean Dawn of War was coming.

tokisto: I never played or heard about this one before, but it got my attention...
So Judas, do you know if runs fine on Wine? ;p Thanks
avatar
JudasIscariot: WINE 1.8-rc1 is my current WINE version.

You will be able to play the single player game just fine BUT the game seems to be affected by this WINE bug. I say this because the first thing that pops up in my termina; is the following error"

err:ole:COMPOBJ_DllList_Add couldn't load in-process dll L"C:\\windows\\system32\\dpnet.dll"

Googling "dpnet.dll" brought me to this page: http://wiki.winehq.org/DirectPlay

So no multi-player under WINE but the single player mode works quite well :)
avatar
vv221: GOG version works flawlessly on my Debian SId with WINE 1.8~rc1 ;)
The ./play.it script for the game should follow soon…
avatar
JudasIscariot: But did you test the multiplayer portion, though? :)
Oh, amazing! Thanks Judas and vv221!

Wow, I thought I edited that post :/

Anyways, just use "winetricks directplay" in order to get the multiplayer portion working :)

(I wrote this in case I missed an edit somewhere :D)

gamesfreak64: Gorky Zero: Beyond Honor thats from JoWooD Entertainment ?

Painted_Doll: Developed by Metropolis Software , published by JoWooD Entertainment .
aha , thanks for the reply.
so basically it can be found under the publishers name, i always work with publisher name cause ofthen the devs are small companies and i cant memorizer all these names, so i usually remember the publishers name.
I have some games published by JoWooD Entertainment, most of them are in dvd cases, the thin ones, not the heavvy strong dvd cases but the ones that still smell like oil or something like a burning smell like after fireworks , maybe thats because its made from recycled stuff.

I have a commandos game in a very strong good quality dvd case, but most of the time the cases are of very low quality, i once had a retail game at 29 euros in a cheap 25 cent dvd case, no manual, only a pdf on cd/dvd, and printer ink is more expensive then 3 games when you have to print the manual.
Cool. I looked at Impossible Creatures on the Steam Sale, went meh, and now I'm so glad I did. :P

I've never used reddit but that sounds like a good call.
Never heard of this game, but holy hell, I love the concept!! Reminds me of the classic "Dr. Moreau" story!!

Alas, I suck with combat that is not turn-based. So how's the difficulty on this at its easiest setting? I might be able to still enjoy it (as I am currently with The Witcher on its lowest difficulty setting).
