The one console to rule them all…

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1, the satirical JRPG series finally takes on Windows computers everywhere, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 50% launch discount.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 takes place in the land of Gamindustry, it's a story of four goddesses also known as Console Patron Units, or CPUs, locked in a thousand year struggle, called the Console War, in which they fight each other for shares. Yup.
If that wasn't blunt enough - the Hyperdimension Neptunia series is a spoofy JRPG take on the gaming industry. The world, the characters, everything here is a little nod, a gamer-friendly meme, or just unabashed satire. But don't be mistaken, the game is far from a one-trick pony - there is plenty here for fans of the genre. Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 brings a novel fighting system which combines free movement with classic turn-based RPG combat, as well as many other huge improvements in mechanics and presentation over the game originally released on the PSP.

You can also pick up the Additional Content1 DLC pack featuring a much higher level cap, new quests, battles and Plans.

Is the Console War worth fighting? Find out with Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1, DRM-free now on GOG.com! The launch discount will end on November 10, 1:59 PM GMT.

aluinie: is this keyboard only or can you use a mouse (I know it will have contoller support but i dont have a controller)
IIRC it's keyboard only. But don't worry - combat is turn-based, you will have all the time to aim. 'Aim', rather.

WBGhiro: Oh man, how far did you get that way?
I can't recall exactly how many levels but after a few times I just started going for a crazy buff shampiro in 1 particular level again and again. I was at level 13 during the initial stages of Chapter 2. (At which point I realized that I didn't set my combos properly)
Now that Neptunia is here, I hope we get Fairy Fencer F very soon.
Noooooo! My money! My bank account needs a break.

Well, at least it does not continues the trend that games in my steam library comes to GoG. I remember resisting the last steam discount on this game.
Click Buy

Well is it really true? Have a phobia and check steam library.

No! How come it is there? Coming from some promo I forgot about?

Dang the trend of double dips continues......

P1na: I tried something like this on the PS3 as a joke - it was horrible. Does the "reBirth" in the title mean it may not be the same game, just something on the same series?
I read somewhere that rebirth has a new combat system unlike the one in the original (not reBirth) Neptunia.

Kardwill: Meaning? Don't know this game, but from the reactions of the other people on this thread, it looks like a decent title.

Agreed. I'm pretty sure it's a case of "anime-looking cover = trash" reasoning. The fact that GOG's catalogue has always been meticulously curated - unlike SOME retailers that will blindly sell actual trash games - seems irrelevant for some reason.

The Rebirth games are Reamkes of the PS3 titles on the PSVita (Remakes, not Remasters!).
I assume you played the first neptunia game on PS3? That one was terrible the other neptunia games (MKII and Victory) were way better.
Rebirth 1 is a remake of that first games but it's entirely differnt, the gamplay was completely remade using the combat system of victory, some features were added, traveling has been improved and so on. Even the Story was improved.
You could say they are entirely differnt games.

The other 2 Rebirth games are closer to the originals because there wasn't such a big need of improvement but there are still a few new features on an additional ending in the second game.
Would love to know how GOG pulled this one off. Idea Factory Japan deny any connection to the PC version, and Idea Factory International insist they don't have the rights to sell this in Japan.

Well, that's probably good. The game I played had basically no mechanics whatsoever. It was the suckiest JRPG I ever played, and I've played a few.
Ys, Grandia 2, Legend of Heroes, Recettear... and now the Neptunia games? This has been such a good year in terms of Japanese releases! T^T *tears of joy*

Thank you so much, GOG, keep 'em coming!

mobutu: Don't forget to send a free code to the first who guessed it correctly half a year ago :)

Back ontopic: this must be the first gametrailer from which I don't understand a damned thing!
avatar
JudasIscariot: Way ahead of you on that :)
avatar
Bethezer: There is not, at this point, a separate sub-forum for Neptunias (RIOT), but when it shows up - please post this there. I can come in handy for those who can't stomach that kind of thing. :)

Don't forget to post it on Community nep-forum, when it shows up - it could come in handy for some folks who can't stomach memespouting. :D

JudasIscariot: Forum fixed.
Only one question bugging my mind . Why publisher is Retroism ? Wasn't it Idea Factory International ?

I think it may be best not to ask, or they may end up pulling it.

Oh yes it was. Terrible I mean. I believe the name was hyperdimension neptunia just like that, so it was probably the first one.
