The one console to rule them all…

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1, the satirical JRPG series finally takes on Windows computers everywhere, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 50% launch discount.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 takes place in the land of Gamindustry, it's a story of four goddesses also known as Console Patron Units, or CPUs, locked in a thousand year struggle, called the Console War, in which they fight each other for shares. Yup.
If that wasn't blunt enough - the Hyperdimension Neptunia series is a spoofy JRPG take on the gaming industry. The world, the characters, everything here is a little nod, a gamer-friendly meme, or just unabashed satire. But don't be mistaken, the game is far from a one-trick pony - there is plenty here for fans of the genre. Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 brings a novel fighting system which combines free movement with classic turn-based RPG combat, as well as many other huge improvements in mechanics and presentation over the game originally released on the PSP.

You can also pick up the Additional Content1 DLC pack featuring a much higher level cap, new quests, battles and Plans.

Is the Console War worth fighting? Find out with Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1, DRM-free now on GOG.com! The launch discount will end on November 10, 1:59 PM GMT.

JinKazaragi: Hm, it didn't get posted, okay attemp to answer #2.

Yes, they are from japan.
It did get posted, I've noticed that sometimes there's a delay between posting and messages showing up, probably related to server load. The same thing happened to me just now when I posted.

IAmSinistar: Looks amusing enough, and the introductory discount is tempting. Is the game actually from Japan? Seems to be, but there are so many J-clones now too.
It has its own anime https://youtube.com/watch?v=0J2rpyvJyIg
Gog defiantly teaches you to be patient,I almost bought two and three on Steam.
It... it really bothers me that it's a semi-colon and not a full colon, is anyone else feeling that?
Eugh!

micktiegs_8: Whoa, talk about coincidence. I just messaged Idea Factory yesterday pleading for GOG versions of their games... hilarious.
I did the same thing a couple of days ago. I'd like to believe Idea Factory put the series on GOG as a direct result of our actions :P
DRMfree NepNep? I'd like to buy it, but I don't like grinding. I'll wait for Neptunia U.
Cool, thanks for the answers folks. Glad to hear it's a bona fide Japanese release then. Now I just have to decide whether to add it to the backlog immediately or not. :)

Yes, it bothers the hell out of me too. X)

JMich: Dare I ask why it took so long?

...

Scratch that, I do dare.
Why did it take so long?

Dare you answer? :P

JudasIscariot: It was actually a matter of principle and I am not being facetious about it, either :) Just...guess what I mean, ok? :)
I don't get it.

Eugh!
Seen it before with japanese stuff, for example Steins;Gate.

Is this one of the 'came for the girls, stayed for the gameplay' games?
Oh God... so now it's not Agarest, Ys... but even Neptunia games?! Thanks GOG, you make me buy it twice.
Great release... I was so hoping for this.
the system requirements seem rather high, no?
also:
Additional Notes: May not work properly with Windows 7 and 8 (32bit) version.
i guess that is because of the 4GB RAM requirement? or is there something else problematic on 32bit?
It's a pretty cute game so far. From what I've heard from others it's grind until you get past a certain a point in the gsme.
I'll throw this out too: pay attention to the minimum requirements on the page, if your computer has an integrated graphics card, the graphics will like your dimmer is turned all the way down without any real way to fix it.

More like came for the Fanservice stayed for the humor.
The gameplay is good but nothing great it's about average (maybe slightly above average but that might just be personal preference)
There a fantranslation out for the second one too, in case it gets released here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=542831125

It fixes all the stupid memes thrown in for the sake of it and quality NISA writing. The first game is translated well enough from what I heard.

These games are pretty cute, I like the combat system. They are also complete grindfests sadly.
