The one console to rule them all…

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1, the satirical JRPG series finally takes on Windows computers everywhere, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 50% launch discount.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 takes place in the land of Gamindustry, it's a story of four goddesses also known as Console Patron Units, or CPUs, locked in a thousand year struggle, called the Console War, in which they fight each other for shares. Yup.
If that wasn't blunt enough - the Hyperdimension Neptunia series is a spoofy JRPG take on the gaming industry. The world, the characters, everything here is a little nod, a gamer-friendly meme, or just unabashed satire. But don't be mistaken, the game is far from a one-trick pony - there is plenty here for fans of the genre. Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 brings a novel fighting system which combines free movement with classic turn-based RPG combat, as well as many other huge improvements in mechanics and presentation over the game originally released on the PSP.

You can also pick up the Additional Content1 DLC pack featuring a much higher level cap, new quests, battles and Plans.

Is the Console War worth fighting? Find out with Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1, DRM-free now on GOG.com! The launch discount will end on November 10, 1:59 PM GMT.
I was just thinking that this game should be on GoG last night before I fell asleep and when I checked the home page, there it was! I already own it elsewhere, but it's worth a double purchase when there's a better sale.
Cool, I just heard back from them. One line seems promising, but I'll hold it in:
"As for the other games we suggest following us on our social media and if the game does
release in GOG, we will try to let everyone know."

I realise it says IF, but it's a start!

IronArcturus: Does this game work with an Xbox 360 controller?

WBGhiro: Yes works perfectly.
That's good! Does it run in a window as well?
is anyone else having a problem of the game not saving the system settings like controller and audio cause mine everytime I quit game puts everything back to default.. but the game itself works like knife through butter besides that one issue.

mangamuscle: More like japanese companies are realuzing they can make a profit even without drm,

catpower1980: Yeah but GOGer's needed to buy those jap games first (not necessarly evident as the main GOG market are western rpg, strategy games, etc.). Well, even if this particular game isn't my cup of tea, I'm glad the offer met the demand so maybe we can expect more interesting games like Valkyria Chronicles & co.....
I had hopes it would eventually come here, and although I got this one on Steam with all DLC, I haven't purchased the sequels, good thing I waited :).

Also, I'm willing to double dip if it helps to bring more similar games, specially Valkyria Chronicles, to GOG.
Wow! This is a surprise! And a very pleasant one at that!
Great to see it here.

I have the Neptunia games on Vita, so I'm not in a big rush to get it here, but I will eventually! :)
What's with the avalanche of scantily clad anime chicks all of a sudden? :P

The style doesn't really do much for me, but it's nice to see more Japanese game releases and I'm sure it will find its audience here.

That problem already existed in the Vita version, I didn't find a solution though.

Unless you were literally born yesterday, there is absolutely nothing new about it. Here is the intro sequence for the Dirty Pair TV series (1985):

There are plenty of videogames with these kind of character designs, but not all of them are known outside japan.
Great to see this game together with all DLCs arrive on GOG. Hope Hyperdimension Neptunia 2 and 3 will come to GOG in future.
Added bonus: This is one of the games that uses the same directory for Steam and GOG saves.

I didn't have to go digging to find my save data, or reinstall the Steam version because it was in the game folder, it just picked my data up right off and let me play from where I was.

Perhaps these files were set up like read-only?

No, I was talking about the arrival of these games on GOG, specifically. Seems there were none at all until recently, and suddenly there seems to be a new one each week. :P

Not that it bothers me, per se. But the exaggerated "kawaii" style, along with the fact that most of the characters look like schoolgirls, isn't really my cup of tea.

I'd prefer something more along the lines of these... ( see attachments )

Cool, I can remove another game (or even series of games) from my Steam wishlist... aaand put it on my GOG wishlist. I'll think about it some more, but right now I'm leaning towards buying it later.
You can blame Falcom-chan for this, Iffy. TitS needed the support. :P

Sounds to me like GOG realised there was a market for these type of games.

Can you re-evaluate Vanguard Princess now guys?
