The one console to rule them all…

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1, the satirical JRPG series finally takes on Windows computers everywhere, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 50% launch discount.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 takes place in the land of Gamindustry, it's a story of four goddesses also known as Console Patron Units, or CPUs, locked in a thousand year struggle, called the Console War, in which they fight each other for shares. Yup.
If that wasn't blunt enough - the Hyperdimension Neptunia series is a spoofy JRPG take on the gaming industry. The world, the characters, everything here is a little nod, a gamer-friendly meme, or just unabashed satire. But don't be mistaken, the game is far from a one-trick pony - there is plenty here for fans of the genre. Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 brings a novel fighting system which combines free movement with classic turn-based RPG combat, as well as many other huge improvements in mechanics and presentation over the game originally released on the PSP.

You can also pick up the Additional Content1 DLC pack featuring a much higher level cap, new quests, battles and Plans.

Is the Console War worth fighting? Find out with Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1, DRM-free now on GOG.com! The launch discount will end on November 10, 1:59 PM GMT.
I love quirky Japanese games. Wishlisted for now.

Mad3: - Do you need some background knowledge to understand anything about the characters and the story?
The only thing you need to know is that Noire is gay.
Now that this wish of mine has been fulfilled, please bring Space Empires V to us! Pretty please, gog. :)

Unkalibriert: Waited for this for about ... eight months? Had to pirate this game before. :p
Didn't pirate but had to buy on that 5 letters DRM store, which is annoying. Now i'll wait more time before buying there, this is really boring.

SE5 has trouble running on modern systems. I think that's the reason we had SE4, but not 5.
A shame, since SE5 is a nice game :)
Great to see this one here, even if it's not my favorite JRPG and not even my favorite IF game it's still a good news.

Now GoG.... get your act together... and b1ring Tales of Zestiria here!!!

TheTome56: I know, right?

You'd think that after dropping $6 billion on a mobile game company, they'd be a little more receptive to earning some extra cash by releasing Sierra classic games for resale
avatar
tfishell: They'll earn about 0.0000001% of that here ...
6$? I think they would earn a little more with them ^^ (though still in the "quite neglictable" range, I agree)

AzraelLOLendgame: It is part of a series, but as it's a vastly improved remake of the first one you don't really need background info. Knowledge of video game history is strongly recommended, though, or you'll miss half the jokes.
Well, I had a SNES, N64, PS1 and 2. I never had a sega or MS console or any console after PS2. I have mostly RPGs and adventures.

Bethezer: IIRC it's keyboard only.

mangamuscle: I think you mean Keyboard/gamepad only.
Yes, ofcourse. But he was asking about mouse so "no mouse, only keyboard". :)

I think it would be more in line with this thread topic to ask for Muv-Luv (whose kickstarter just ended btw) to be released also in gog.
Those who played this game, how does it stands with Agarests? Is there True End to follow, is there postgame with super bosses and such?

...Are there Dragons in this game?

Pretty much this.

That may be true, but I was referring to my voted games here on gog. ^^

If I'm not mistaken, there is normal and true endings. Compared to Agarest? Probably less grinding, unless you want. You will still need to do this, for items, quests... but it's quite simpler and easier. Post game? I didn't reach the end, but with dlc you can bust the level cap of 99... to 300. Or more, even.
And yeah, there are dragons. :D
Damn, yes!
Sora no Kiseki, Grandia, Neptunia!
I love Japanese games, keep them coming, GOG!
Already got on Vita, but it's a Day-1 on DRM-Free for me!
Does this game work with an Xbox 360 controller?
