Niggles: Dev ignored backers request for gogkeys as an options. Not happy.

I wont be backing anymore KS projects unless devs provide gog as a valid option if possible (oh Humble fucked up the release.)
avatar
Azhdar: Do you know why they ignored your request?
There has been a few people asking possibility of gogkeys but no response from dev. No idea why not (some say its a one many project but still you would have thought this request would have been addressed- bet dev would have said "We have chosen to deliver via Humble" -- to me thats a cop out)
Damn, this game looks amazing...

Also, I don't why someone would come here if they do not like retro style, such as pixel art. This website is called for Good Old Games for a reason. Seems like some people are in the wrong place.

It's not called Good Old Games though.

viranimus: I too am trying to figure this out. No response yet from Humble either. Also, it was an option in the survey.

expopower: For the time being, I'm not going to download the build or reveal the Steam key supplied by Humble Bundle - hopefully the devs offer us a GOG alternative!
I've downloaded the drm free humble version without revealing the Steam link, I don't think it would pose a problem IF the devs decide to offer a gog key.

Not anymore.

Just GOG (Gee-Oh-Gee).

odomi2: Trine isn´t 2D, the models and background is 3D, only that it´s a 2D sidescroller.
Banner saga or valdris story would be better examples
avatar
blotunga: Ok then Banner Saga. Heck, even Heroes of Might and Magic 1 had better graphics than what some indies serve as today. Actually about everything post 1998 or so had better graphics.
I don´t know.. I like this kind of graphics, that´s one of the reasons I got this game. Maybe it wouldn´t work in other style, it doesnt matter because we will never know about that.

Well Survey said it was an option. At least the original survey did.

So far yet to see this addressed elsewhere on the Kick start page. Still have yet to hear anything from Humble. Have now also emailed the dev through kick start hopefully to get a response soon.

I know it is not likely that using the humble .exe would invalidate anything, but my concern is I want what I stated when I was asked, because I know this game is likely to have either at present or in the future some layer of multi player functionality and I get the impression that the humble .exe would not be set up for server access whereas GoG has galaxy and at least provides the platform for it. I would not chance to be put out in the cold of functionality due to impatience, especially given that patience was already tested with the game being 2 years overdue.

It is disappointing of course, but I can wait as long as it takes to get it right.

Other thought:

For those who still get stuck on the Good OLD Games thing. Yes most of us know that GoG has changed direction. Personally I like to think the abbreviation stands for the "Good Of Gaming" which both makes sense, and accurately reflects what GoG has tried to stand for.

So Good Of Gaming might make it easier for people to resolve.
They started as Good Old Games. I joined the site when they were Good Old Games. I will always remember them as Good Old Games. Their current marketing strategy and the insistence of any forum members will never change that.

Additionally, if they wanted that badly to change their image of only releasing old games they could have changed the abbreviation entirely. And they wouldn't have made the guarantee of releasing "at least one classic game each week."

All the naming business aside, doady's point still stands. Even if this website was called "New Games For Cool Young Millenials" they still sell a ton of old games with dated graphics. Old games still make up the majority of their available library. One of their main selling points is releasing old games while updating them to work on modern PC's.

Anyone who comes to this website and complains of dated graphics or "retro art" needs to check their expectations, or they'll look like a fool to any reasonable person.
Emailed dev to enquire possibility of GOGkeys

Sent them a message as well! Maybe if enough of us express interest in this, they'll feel there's enough demand to work out something with us...

You didn't. The switch happened on March 30, 2012, and you joined the site on August 2012 (at least according to your join date below your avatar). So it was already GOG when you joined.

I had an account before this one. Never bought any games, only used it to download the free ones. I can't remember my reason for making a new account. I don't know, point is, I've been around since it was Good Old Games.

You probably won't believe me, that's fine. Maybe I'll try to go and look up my old account if I can remember the name of it.
Wishlisted for now.
hmm... a good game marred by some frustratingly difficult boss fights. that turned me off for now...
