JDelekto: I don't think it is anything abnormal. There is a lot of stress people have in their life and they need to relieve it. However, due to urban development, the ability to relieve that stress is shrinking. When I was younger, I could go out and chop wood. Others' don't have that luxury in different environments.

I think the sandbox games allow one to virtually "chop wood" and relieve the stress they tend to "pent up" otherwise.

I bought both the game when it was sold on the humble bundle AND when it was sold on steam. I also followed the controversies and read up on tweets and forum posts. I'm also a programmer so I know how easy it is to make this kind of "restriction".

I suggest you read the forum post by the dev on steam. You are getting to hung up on GoG. It is not GoG's fault whatsoever.

I did read the post from the devs about how to uncensor the game. I could not find a statement yet that they have only provided the "censored" version.

Renascent: "There is nothing illegal about this game". You don't understand that mainstream distribution platforms do not want to distribute games that gives you hardcore content "out of the box". In order to gain access to hardcore content you will have to "modify" game files yourself. Think of it like nude mods for Skyrim. Nude mods are a bit different of a case, but neither are easily accessed "out of the box" when you download the game.

Every mainstream distribution platform is selling the "censored" version. I think you can get the pure uncensored version from some selected japanese websites, if you can navigate them. Of course the game doesn't come with a patch you can use to unlock the 18+ version. That would ruin the point of shipping a censored version.

Renascent: Here is the "patching" notes for you:
1) make sure you can see known file endings like .txt, .doc, .jpg.
2) make a notepad document and save as "huniepop_uncensored_patch.game"
3) start the game and enjoy your 18+ content

You literally do not have to download ANYTHING. The game contains the 18+ content, it is just a matter of unlocking it.

Still it is not uncensored "out of the box" - so the problem is not solved for me until an official statement that the devs decided this. One good sign for this would be that the game is distributed the same way EVERYWHERE (including humble).
Steam would not have shipped this game if the hardcore content was "out of the box". If you are a dev and want to sell your game on steam, what do you do? I really do not understand why you are so obsessed with having the hardcore content available "out of the box" or in a form of "tick this box in the settings menu". The hardcore content is with the game regardless of where you buy it from. You don't get a "lesser" version. Steam's version of the art collection does not have hard core content, so if you want that you have to buy it from the dev's site.

Are you actually familiar with Hunie Pop? :) Because if you were, you'd know this is far from being the bottom of the barrel. Apart from being a very solid match-3 game, it also a parody of ecchi dating sims, poking fun at the stereotypes of the genre. Not to mention that the writing and voice acting are quite enjoyable. :) I had loads of fun with it. ^^

Oh, and for reference, before my comment is dismissed as coming from a horny male teenager : I'm a thirty-one year old straight woman, with over twenty years of gaming experience. ;)

bad_fur_day1: I can think of a few reasons it might be a bad idea to have naked girls bouncing around here, keeping Gog somewhat family safe-ish for kids and mums and stuff running right into that accidentally. Seems like somewhat of a bad business decision to have adult X rated content floating around.

Violent videogames are somewhat obvious to stay away from, a bit of blood in screenshots doesn't immediately offend.

There are multiple games on gog that go well beyond 'artistic' nudity anyway. a) You still have not answered my question if the humble drm-free version is the same (meaning that the game ships without this additional file).

b) Your confusion about my thoughts is probably due to the fact that you still have not understood WHAT my problem here is. It's NOT that the game is censored. My problem is that a publisher which I like very much (GOG) MAY have decided to use a censored version of the game instead of an uncensored one out of the box. The DECISION is my problem not the game. If nobody had forced GOG then I don't like their decision. If there were however no other version/option for GOG available because the devs only gave away versions without the "unncesor flag" out of the box then GOG would be innocent. If the devs however gave them the choice and GOG chose to use the censored version (out of the box) instead of the uncensored (out of the box - in case such version does in fact even exist) I don't want to support such thinking. If GOG or the devs would have answered this simple question (whose decision was it) the problem and question for me would be completely solved. It's just a matter of principle nothing more and all depend on this simple question. ONe official statement would lead me to buy the game here instantly - or not.

It's pervy Bejewled!

With an uncensored (Not much difference between them) patch available from the dev that has been linked repeatedly both here and on Steam.

I don't see what the "OMG CENSHORSHIP!!!11" cries are for, the assets are in the game, it just needs a single file to be in the game directory to switch which ones are displayed.

This censorship is no more of an issue than the Sunrider game, which is to say, none at all.

Download an extra file, drop it in, see slightly more pervy images.

Then, go to Zone Archive, and get your pervy fill while Zone-tan watches you fap.
