BrandeX: nobodies version needs to be patched, there is no such thing as a "patch", last time I will comment on this.
Instead of "Censor on/off" in the in-game menu, it is done in the game's directory via a text file. 100% of all uncensored content (except the CG art DLC) is installed on your PC from the start with the default GOG installer file.

MarkoH01: Yes, I think we all understood this now. But still the game is censored without doing this. It would be the same if you have to change a registry setting - somebody decided to let the game normally start censored and I just want to know who that was (Devs/GOG).
The devs did that in order to be able to sell it through various platforms i.e. Steam, humble bundle etc. The devs also posted a thread on how to unlock the uncensored version. I don't really see the problem? Everyone who buys the game will get the uncensored version, but it needs to be "unlocked" else the devs can't legally sell the game on Steam etc.
Sounds like simple games combined with nice japanese pics. Only the title could easily be mistaken for HoneyPoop. What is it supossed to mean anyway.
avatar
Renascent: Steam has the uncensored version. You just have to unlock it by making a file with a specific file name.
avatar
Klumpen0815: I'm still interested in a test with this file on GoG's version.
Can anybody that bought it here check out if the decensoring file does work?
You can either:
1) Buy the game and test it. If it doesn't work you can ask for a refund.
2) Ask the devs on twitter/email

As I have both the steam and humble "version", I'm 99,9999% sure that it is the same with GoG's version. I'm saying that from a perspective of a programmer since I've programmed a lot in C an d C++. The "restriction" is a code line that reads the following:
if("filename_in_folder")
unlock "18+"
There is nothing in the file at all. It is just a check if any file exists with that name.

You are saying that it was the devs decision but so far no official stetement on that. The "problem" ist not the censored game (because it can easily be uncensored) but the DECISION to censor it. If it were the devs decision - as you suggest - I don't have any problems. If GOG decided to use the censored version I have a problem. And of course it could be legally sold on other stores - there is nothing illegal about this game.

Since you do seem to know the game pretty well. Is the mentioned file in the humble version contained or is it absent in EVERY distribution?

Roxolani: What are the differences between the censored and uncensored of this game?
avatar
Hollyhock: The only difference is in the four photos you get as a reward by advancing your relationship with each girl (clearing puzzle stages). The first photo of each girl is pretty innocent, the second is flirty, the third is sexy and the fourth one is sexually explicit (after you sleep with them). The censoring changes some "sexy photos" and all "sexually explicit" photos.

In the censored version, genitalia are covered by panties, and there is no semen on girls' faces/bodies. The result of this is that, in the censored version the "explicit photo" can have less sexual weight than previous photos.
Thanks for the info! :)

Do you have Steam?
I bought both the game when it was sold on the humble bundle AND when it was sold on steam. I also followed the controversies and read up on tweets and forum posts. I'm also a programmer so I know how easy it is to make this kind of "restriction".

I suggest you read the forum post by the dev on steam. You are getting to hung up on GoG. It is not GoG's fault whatsoever.
"There is nothing illegal about this game". You don't understand that mainstream distribution platforms do not want to distribute games that gives you hardcore content "out of the box". In order to gain access to hardcore content you will have to "modify" game files yourself. Think of it like nude mods for Skyrim. Nude mods are a bit different of a case, but neither are easily accessed "out of the box" when you download the game.

Every mainstream distribution platform is selling the "censored" version. I think you can get the pure uncensored version from some selected japanese websites, if you can navigate them. Of course the game doesn't come with a patch you can use to unlock the 18+ version. That would ruin the point of shipping a censored version.

Here is the "patching" notes for you:
1) make sure you can see known file endings like .txt, .doc, .jpg.
2) make a notepad document and save as "huniepop_uncensored_patch.game"
3) start the game and enjoy your 18+ content

You literally do not have to download ANYTHING. The game contains the 18+ content, it is just a matter of unlocking it.

mistermumbles: I just file it under the 'fantasy' label. I know I can get excited (ahem) about some weird virtual shit, but wouldn't dream of following through on it in real life. Not because it's taboo per se, but more due to it not doing anything for me in the real world. *shrug*

JDelekto: Well, yeah. I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have the brains we do if one were not allowed to have any imagination at all.

I for one really like sandbox games, like Gary's Mod, Grand Theft Auto, Saint's Row, etc. I use them for stress relief from time to time; I do some really wacky stuff there which would certainly arouse curiosities. However, after a good wind-down, it all goes away --like water off a duck's back.

I thought people should be judged by their actions in real life, not how they act in a game....
people around me would look differently at me would they see/know what i ever do to/with my "sims" (even with the vanilla unmodded games...) :)

but given what i can hear and see around sometimes, i wonder wether it is them or me who got a trouble making difference between game/fiction and reality

So you are saying the humble version is "censored" (meaning this file is missing), too?
I did read the post from the devs about how to uncensor the game. I could not find a statement yet that they have only provided the "censored" version.

Still it's not illegal per se. If I don't WANT to distribute seomthing iot is my own decision. Not the case if something is illegal.

I have understood this before so no need to repeat it. Still it is not uncensored "out of the box" - so the problem is not solved for me until an official statement that the devs decided this. One good sign for this would be that the game is distributed the same way EVERYWHERE (including humble).

I don't think it is anything abnormal. There is a lot of stress people have in their life and they need to relieve it. However, due to urban development, the ability to relieve that stress is shrinking. When I was younger, I could go out and chop wood. Others' don't have that luxury in different environments.

I think the sandbox games allow one to virtually "chop wood" and relieve the stress they tend to "pent up" otherwise.

If someone where to judge based on my actions in a game, they would be very confused. On the one hand, I would be given 100 ticket-day parades for my amazing military record across numerous generations, including my ability to stop an assault from outer-space entirely by myself.. On the other hand, based on Saints Row 3 and 4 alone, I would be charged with several hundred counts of assault with a vehicle. Also, my affiliation with the Dark Brotherhood from Skyrim would get me in a lot of trouble I would imagine.

How a person acts in real life will impact how they act in a game about a bazillion times more than the other way around. So I fully agree, judge people based on what they do in reality.

I had to pinch myself. Twice, and I am not sure if this is a elaborate troll or not. ಠ_ಠ

You are the first American that I see that advocates masturbation to relieve stress.

You.... often get this suggestion from other nationals ? :-|

(cause you'd be the first swedish that I see who is being regularly advised to masturbate to relieve stress by nationals of many countries but not americans)
