GOG is EU company. Most of its customers are EU, and majority of EU costumers may be Polish and Germans because these two countries are big. Region blocking Germans? What are you talking about?

mrkgnao: I prefer GOG's solution, make-believe censoring is better in my book that actual regional blocking.
avatar
tfishell: Yeah I agree too on this matter.
I disagree. You basically absolve gog of any obligation to release uncensored games here, when they can just sell censored versions and go "Downlode exturnul patch plox!"

I'm pretty sure there are patches that restore cut content for the Fallout games, but that doesn't make it any less sucky that the versions sold here are cut.
whats the point of playing the censored version?

My point was there's no reason to block Germans in any way if majority of GOG's paying customers are Germans, it's simple business discussion.

Lone_Scout: A reasonable choice, if only you weren't from Germany...

Lifthrasil: There is always the option of using a VPN. But yes, German censorship sucks.
Isnt't region locking sort of censoring as well? ;)

I can assure you that "Germans" don't want that ... only some crazy people working for the government. Germand son't have any real influence on these crazy things or those crazy people.

So you support region blocking by buying on humble instead of buying the non region (but censored) blocked game here ... I mean, both is bad but one could ask what is worse. Since this is more like a "get it censored and get the patch for free to make it uncejnsored immediately" it is a valid question to ask, I guess. It would be a different thing if it would not be possible to uncensor the game that easily, of course.

+1, GOG. Not near enough to lift the boycott, but +1 for apparently being the only store to choose this route.

Really? I hope you meant this as a joke.

Midnight_Wolf: Bit expensive just for a wank.

Just leave your basement and get a girlfriend, like normal people.
Such comments make me wonder if you even played the first one. Many have pointed it out but at least the first one had some really nice gameplay and some fun dialogues ... the naked truth was merely a bonus.

But you do know that GOG already IS region blocking quite a lot of games for Germans, right? Unfortunately business is not everything when it comes to fear of facing legal problems.

Well interested in the HuniePop games, but that would mean i need a new pc.
Now about selling censored games here and there exists a site to download the patch or something.
I don't mind it too much. Since we would not have maidens of michael here on gog and that isn't on steam for some reason. And i only got that VN because it was supposed to be the most popular yuri VN, otherwise not into yuri.
What does bother me about maidens of michael VN game a kiss for the petals is every time it would get updated and this happened only once, i needed a new adult patch to download. Which i think i had to email mangagamer for them to update the adult patch since i think they forgot to do that on their site but not 100% sure about that one.
So as long as the game is sold here censored and i get an uncensored fix elsewhere for free i don't mind too much.
But what i do mind is selling the uncensored fix somewhere else with a price so i can't buy it with paysafecard then.

Does there exist a demo version for the first game to test if it works?
Since win xp and only 1gb ram.
Not steam version downloadable since i would test it.

But the reason why I don't buy here has nothing to do with the censorship. The reason why I don't buy here anymore is because GOG broke every single promise they made. Most importantly the DRM-free promise. See here
And here.

Yes, I know that Humble sells DRM-ed games too. A lot. But they never promised not to and at least they clearly label whether a game is DRM-free or not. My reason for buying here was the confidence of getting 100% DRM-free games. That confidence is lost. So there is no reason to buy here anymore.

(Analogy: if a 100% vegan store suddenly starts to sell animal products, there is no reason left to shop there and not in a regular store.)

Ah, did not realize that you don't buy here anymore at all. Valid reasons of course.

Btw: This whole discussion shows really well how senseless censoring is. In the end everybody will have the game uncensored if not one way than another ... and in fact because of this whole discussion even more might be intersted now in an uncensored version. It is the same as with movies. Try to censor and blockwhatever you want .. it does not work as long as the internet exists.

PaterAlf: Can also still buy all other erotic games on Steam and other shops. So blocking this one doesn't make a lot of sense and I doubt it is really neccessary.
avatar
eiii: So apparently other games I also would classify as porn are not blocked and for me it still isn't clear why Hunipop 2 is blocked. Perhaps blocking it might indeed not be necessary.
Maybe this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unterhaltungssoftware_Selbstkontrolle#Restrictions
tho by that definition "the" porn games should be banned first and with far more will.

Perhaps I am doing something wrong by none of this series' games show up on both USK and PEGI:

No, it's entirely about "not buy game at all / use a VPN and buy uncensored version on Steam" VS "support a company with no moral code, that spits in customers faces, and does more and more questionable decisions to the point when a big chunk of loyal customers don't want to buy here anymore (AKA buy a censored version on GOG)".

Lifthrasil: Humble
For me the HB is already burned.
After the whole ordeal of HB going out of their way to ban people who resold/gaveaway/activated-on-not-their-primary-account their legally obtained keys as well as HB trying to enforce their de facto illegal TOS that company has completely burned their reputation in my eyes and I personally pulled out of there.
TLDR for the "illegal" part - in EU it is entirely legal to do really whatever you want with your digital goods key (for example resell it) after you obtain it - after it is given to you by the seller the seller's jurisdiction ends and they can no longer dictate what you do with the key - if they for example block your access to past purchased content just because you gave/sold someone else your legally obtained key then that's illegal on their part, that's a fraud - so HB carries out illegal acts and I personally no longer want to buy there.

So, for those of us with limited motivation to go through several pages including some very whiny people:

1) the game is censored on GOG (no nudity?)
2) it's not censored on some other stores, but in exchange the game is geoblocked there for some people (Germany, maybe others?)
3) Uncensoring the game is trivial with a developer-supplied patch

Did I miss anything or can you truly sum up those sad pages of forum like this?
Looks like this is currently the top selling game on GOG. Shows that there is a market and demand for adult focused games here.
