B1tF1ghter: I mean... If you feel confident enough that some random on the internet "totally has the original unmodified file" based just on said random's words...
I don't see checksums on the official website. So, you know, until they show up you have NO idea if the file you are downloading from "unofficial source" is indeed unmodified.
PSA:
So for preservation sake to at least somewhat alleviate my above desribed issues I went ahead and saved the file in webarchive :D
https://web.archive.org/web/20210208230523/https://www.huniepop.com/patch/HP2SteamyPatch.dat (before someone tries to turn my own words against me: go ahead and check that the link for the patch from official faq site links to exactly "
https://www.huniepop.com/patch/HP2SteamyPatch.dat " and I saved in archive org exactly that)
EDIT:
GOG for whatever reason cuts everything before the last https in links (that or deliberately criples archive org links) so
you have to manually copy paste the archive org link as otherwise by merely clicking on it GOG forum software will strip everything before last https and guide you directly to live site instead of backup Well, thank you for the additional link. Regarding my "unofficial sources" I intended to use instead in case I should need them, I was of course not talking about sources not known to me. It might surprise you but I know quite a few people here on GOG ... and there are several I trust completely :) But sure, having additional links to such crucial patches is always a good thing. Last but not least: in my experiences if nothing would go anymore a quick mail to the devs might have done the trick as well. I'd say we are now pretty save and while of course I would do prefer not having blocked OR censored the game at all ... I know that the unicorns are not here and that I'll probably have to wait a bit until I see some angels ... meaning - the world unfortunately is not fair, but sometimes I'll just have to make the best of it.
eiii: Since when are things blocked in Germany for sexual content (the game is marked as adult only)? Are there any new laws? Usually blocking is enforced for violence only.
PaterAlf: I wonder as well why this is blocked in Germany? There's never been a problem with sexual content in games here and as far as I know there hadn't been any new laws. Can also still buy all other erotic games on Steam and other shops. So blocking this one doesn't make a lot of sense and I doubt it is really neccessary.
This one is trying to explain it
https://www.reddit.com/r/de/comments/kidgyz/steam_blockt_nun_alle_adultonly_porn_spiele_in/
So the reason might not be any law but some peopel that feel offended and making pressure even though they don't have authority at all.
