Optimize. Promote. Optimize. The Human Resource Machine has come to GOG.com, now DRM-free.
Wishlisted this.

A bit too similar to TIS-100 for me to purchase this one while working through the other.

PaterAlf: The game looks extremely interesting. I love the artstyle and the concept seems to be great too. Is there anyone who already played it and can tell something more about it?
It's a nice little puzzle game where the puzzle are solved through programming and the game has the tipical Tomorrow Corporation flavour. The logic is similar to the real programming but in a fun fashion and with increased difficulty that capitalize on what you learned before. Each level you are entrusted with a tack you have to solve and there are many ways to solve it and you also can optimize them in some ways to beat certain challenge.

Cheers on the fact that this is released without regional pricing.

Looks interesting and charming: wishlisted for now.
Very interesting game and sweet, tomorrow corporation-ly visuals.

ps. These devs definitely know how to present a game! Well done guys! :)

Catbert approves.
Oh, great. I was hoping this would arrive with Little Inferno.

Oh no! Another programming logic puzzle game! Why GOG?!? I don't have any money right now but I HAVE to buy this. Damn you, why couldn't this have been a day that just saw an indie-sidescroller or FPS? Fine.. take my money. The money that I don't have. It looks way too clever and polished not to pick up.

Unrelated to this game, but related to Tomorrow Corp:

As you may know, once upon a time Little Inferno got ported to Android and was featured in a Humble bundle. I recently decided that LI was perfect for mobile gaming, and installed it, only to discover this build has a game-breaking bug that makes it impossible to progress past the first screen/level/set of items to burn. Frustrating. So I sent an email to the address listed on the LI Play store page, only to receive no response at all. Next I sent an email to Humble support and asked them to sort this out. Simple, right? I mean, the devs mention on the Play store that they've fixed this very bug, after many a report from dissatisfied customers. Some weeks later, I get a response (and people complain GOG support is slow) - they're going to look into it. Many weeks later and into present time, yesterday I got an email from my support contact stating:

It looks like that studio for Little Inferno went under before they were able to get us an updated build. The one posted on the download page is the last one we're going to be receiving.
Pissed off, I went to Tomorrow Corp's website to find some address to shoot off a pointless angry email (I kid, it wouldn't have been pointless), only to find they list no such thing on their site (must be too old school, they have FB and Twitter, both of which I avoid like the plague upon mankind they are). The undated blog posts kept mentioning something called "Human Resource Machine", but I wrote it off as some project predating Little Inferno no one ever heard of. I think you can guess how the story goes from this point on.

So, who's crazy / lying / lying like crazy here? A company that "went under" has just released a brand new game. But they cannot - or refuse to - update a build of a product they deemed okay to sell. A product that has been last updated on the Play store August 17, 2015.

It occurred to me that perhaps someone else did the port for Android, but Tomorrow Corp is listed, and besides, it makes no sense that the porter would have the rights to distribution.

Possibilities that have occurred to me:
1) Support guy is lying. But why?
2) Tomorrow Corp is lying to the support guy. But why?
3) No one is lying and this is all a series of unlikely circumstances.

All I know is that I have one useless copy of LI for Android, and that I won't be buying anything Tomorrow Corp related any time soon.

Klumpen0815: No Linux version? Tux sad. :(

JudasIscariot: I wouldn't be surprised if the Windows version ran flawlessly on Wine, I know Little Inferno did as I checked it before we got the Linux version :)
Does anyone know if a native Linux version is planned at this point? Any word from the devs?

Check the last lines.
I would appreciate it if the game didn't start in dutch just because of where I live.
My computer's language is English start in English.
Edit: I've selected English in the language setup and it's still doing it, how the fuck?

Hi omega64, interesting, we've heard a few other people who ordered from GOG report that their game starts in Dutch. If you are playing on Windows, try going to this location on your hard drive: %APPDATA%\Human Resource Machine\
Do you see a settings.txt file? Try opening it, and change the "language" from "system" to "en". Does this make the game play in English?

We are looking into a Linux version, but no ETA yet. We will likely release the Wii U and tablet versions first. We're only 3 inefficient humans!

Hi Hyperagathon, sorry you've had a trouble with Little Inferno for Android. Yes, it looks like the company that ported Little Inferno to Android for us has closed shop. We've had trouble getting in contact with them recently as well. They were also the group that received any Android support emails.

We're not sure if or how we can update the Android version without them, but they did provide us with a workaround a while back. You can find it here under "I’m playing on Android and can’t get past the photo selection item!":

Let us know if that helps.
