Return to the Mothership

Homeworld Remastered Collection, containing the legendary space RTSs turned instant classics, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and multiplayer, and a 50% launch discount.

Homeworld brought real-time strategy into actual 3D, creating a truly free-form tactical experience across battlefields vast in every dimension. Homeworld 2 expanded on the setting and story even further, while refining the overall gameplay and visual experience. Now the whole saga has been remastered, putting a fresh coat of paint and techno-magic over this timeless experience, so that new and veteran players alike can finally return safely to their true Homeworld. This version also includes the latest massive patch, which brings tons of radical changes to formations, ship behavior, gameplay balance, and more.

The Homeworld Remastered Collection includes both the classic and remastered editions of Homeworld & Homeworld 2.

MischiefMaker: Now bring us Battlezone 98 redux!
avatar
SCPM: Here you go, it's coming tomorrow. ;-)
https://www.gog.com/game/battlezone_98_redux
*gives SCPM a big sloppy kiss on the cheek* =P
Now this is a good one.
And it makes lovely desktop wallpaper too.
Also Gearbox is on GOG... anything can happen now. Dogs and cats living together etc...
Nice!
two rts games i've played to completion are starcraft battle chest and homeworld. both have a steep learning curve, and both are extremely difficult. and i when i count the things that i am grateful for, it includes the opportunity to play both of these games.
the good news about both of these games is that they have an excellent tutorial.
my copy of homeworld is the cd version, it doesn't include homeworld 2, so i can't comment on that, or the new enhanced drm free offer on gog, except to say that if i didn't already own homeworld, this would be in my cart and i'd be headed to checkout. increadible gameplay, excellent tutorial, awesome soundtrack. it is a work of art
i love the fact that these games are drm free. someday i hope to see gog connect include games purchased on amazon

Hmm...Nightfire, Half-Lives, Brother in Arms series, Borderlands series... and why not Deserts Of Kharak

IAmSinistar: And it makes lovely desktop wallpaper too.
That is, if it wasn't for all that grey fog at the bottom. =P

SCPM: The only other things I saw are Planetbase and Funcom's The Park coming this week:

Man, Planetbase reminds of Outpost. Really loved that game (despite all the issues with it).

trusteft: I am going to try to see if I can get it through "connect".

acute71: GOG Connect might bite them (us?) in the ass now. A week ago I would have bought this without hesitation (although I own this game on Steam (many games I bought on Gog I already owned on Steam)). Just to show the developer/publisher there is demand for these games on Gog. Now I am doubting. On one hand I would also love to see the Borderlands games here (the better Homeworld sells the bigger the chances are, on the other hand - knowing my luck - if I buy it now it will be on Connect within the next few months or so. Damn, what to do.
This will always now be the case as long as GoG continues to get sloppy seconds. In this case the game was released over a year ago on Steam. I still question how something like GoG connect shows a demand for games on GoG the average user isn't going to wait 1+ years to buy a game on GoG (which there is no guarantee it would even show up here) when they can get the game somewhere else.

Atombomb2097: Half-Lives (...) Borderlands series (...) Deserts of Kharak
You have my attention. :D
So, Gearbox decided to start releasing games on GOG? That's progress! Next thing - they should start making Linux games :)

I say you stop buying on Steam, it's the only way to be sure. ;)

That would be really cool to see both Borderlsand and Kharak on GOG!
Since I don't see anyone mentioned it already, if you plan to stick with the classic version of Homeworld 2, you may want to check out Homeworld 2 Complex mod.

http://www.homeworld2complex.com/index1.htm

"Homeworld 2 Complex truly is a great, complete, memorable and incredibly fun game. This is emphasized and demonstrated as Complex sits up there right alongside more publicly-known legends" "Complex did, and still does, what no game has made before, and gives players an extremely deep and fun strategic game by making the player think and see far beyond the scope of a normal RTS - ship crews, ship officers, morale, resource acquisition, research, deployment, mobilization, combat experience, ship customization, chain of command, and many other elements that make the player truly feel like he's leading a space fleet were but the first things that awed me and many others when we first played this mod."
