Tiny Bang Story, Morphopolis, plus the Enigmatis and Nightmares from the Deep trilogies.

Who doesn't love the look of a messy room, devilishly concealing all the important items when you need them the most? That guilty pleasure of rummaging around for your car keys, wallet, or that grotesque ivory ornament which unlocks the secrets to the family curse, is what Hidden Object Games are all about!
We kick off their arrival on GOG.COM with a fine selection that was hiding in plain sight and some purty 70% discounts until August 10th, 1pm UTC.

Tiny Bang Story takes place on a lovely planet thrown into disarray after an unfortunate clash with a total jerk of a meteor. Help fix it by solving quirky puzzles and scouring hand-drawn screens for objects of interest.

The Enigmatis trilogy begins on the spooky streets of Maple Creek, a place overflowing with secrets, tragedy, and hidden knickknacks! Disoriented and confused after being hit by a furious storm, you must steel your nerves and stay focused on finding that missing girl.

Morphopolis is an evocative puzzle adventure set in an almost-psychedelic forest undergrowth full of curious insects. Gorgeous exploration and fascinating discoveries await.

Ghost ships, doomed romance, pirate treasure, and items in need of finding make up the Nightmares from the Deep trilogy, a chilling tale straight from Davy Jones' locker.

Much like the recent arrival of visual novels, it's not really my cup of tea, but I'm glad they're here. There's really no reason for them not to be and clearly lots of people enjoy them.

The asking price is pretty low so maybe I'll give one of the higher rated ones a shot.

Caesar.: This is not my genre of games, but this thread has proven that there a lot of users interested in hidden object games. So, good for them! More variety is good.

It's impossible (or at least, very unrealistic to expect) to like every single of the 2000+ games on GOG. It's a business and they need to grow their customer base. There has to be something for everyone, not everything for someone.
Very good i have all games available, that is games that are for sale online or at shops like amazon.de , , because some are in 3d and i draw the line at 3d games, shooters and FPP ( too many motions and turning and zooming )

Not gonna mention every game i have ofcourse but i have loads of them not lots but really loads of them :D
all paid for ofcourse: Steam(digital) ,Bigfish (retail) Denda (retail) and various others retail, and also Gamersgate (digital) and now a few here at GOG :D

tfishell: I'm surprised these came b/c I didn't think there was a target audience here, but perhaps GOG is trying to bring that target audience here.

I was also surprised by the whining but I shouldn't have been. :P The complaining makes me wanna go on a downvoting rampage.
I have to admit that I was expecting much more of it. I mostly find here what I was used from GOG forums in the past when a new release was posted. People liking the genre or not discussing politely about the new release and being happy for the others if they don't like the genre.

Nice, refreshing and a good way to start the week-end. Thanks GOGers ;)
Good to see these here. I'm not a fan of these types of games generally, but it's nice to see GoG expanding genres. Just a little disappointed because of the (admittedly self-inflicted) hype of certain other games I thought would be coming.

Still good job GoG.

Splatsch: I was always fascinated by this genre, maybe time to try some :)
Are there particular good ones in this releases ? How close is this to point & clicks ? Are there enigmas ? If yes, are they "convoluted" ? What to expect gameplay-wise ?

I'm mostly attracted by Nightmares from the Deep trilogy & The Tiny Bang Story, how good are they ? Are they a good starting point to discover the genre ?
Depends on the gamer , some really hate casualgames , every genre has its awful games it is up to the gamers to decide what they like and what they dont like, i dont mind much of the same, i know its more of the same in my case much or much more of the same would apply better :D
So its hard to give suggestions to any gamer.

Anyway most if not all (older) games have complete walkthroughs on youtube i always check them to see what to expect in the game...

Ingsoc85: So much for GOG curator standards.

Also, aren't those games mainly played on mobiles?
I really wonder when people will finally understand that a game or a genre they themselves don't like does not mean that the same goes for everybody else. GOG still has standards in this case you disagree with their choice. Why not just simply accept it and let others enjoy this?

As it has been said there are several HOG out there that are more or less like little adventures with added logical puzzles in it. They often don't take much time as a usual adventure so it's great for those who don't have that much time. As it has also been said before these games are also often very child friendly ... there you have your target group.

It would be amusing(ly bitter) to get the "XIII" hidden objects game released on GOG, now...

If you dont mind steam ( i do mind steam but i buy only games i can run without steam) you will find games at 2 to 3 euros or usd ( not the latest releases ofcourse the released Kingmaker ( very good game (i own it) but it wasnt part of steam summersale this year which is a good sign cause i bought it a while before summersales began ...
Anyway at steam they have bundles at Artifex and Alawar which makes it worthwhile to get the games and save $ or euros ( i have ALL games at steam and all old games on retail)

Please don't. Just reply if you want to add or explain. Downvoting simply solves nothing and it'S useless if you want to convey any argument or disagreement. I only downvote whenever people say something really inappropriate or hateful - did it this way since I registered here. I have a mouth and I can speak so I'd rather like to explain things. :)

xKeiro: Wooho! I hope that we are going to see more Artifex Mundi games on GOG, they are pretty good!

Edit: But please keep these hidden object games heavily curated, there are way too many junk in this genre.

Experiment513: Totally agree with this post. There's a lot of crap out there too so please indeed heavily curation! :)
There's a lot of crap in EVERY SINGLE GAME GENRE. And it's not like there isn't any garbage from beloved genres like RTSs, RPGs or platformers in GOG, but they seem to be doing a pretty good job so far.

As long as they stay with Artifex Mundi-developed games I think we'll be fine.

EDIT: Also, what about the macOS and Linux versions of Tiny Bang Story? Are they coming?

First of all, to me, hidden objects games are for children. But that doesn't mean they're not worthy addition to GOG. Enjoy people in new releases, they look gorgeous, but sadly not for me.

BUT more in this one, given how easy it is to slap a dozen images over a background picture and list them below. Really, after the genre became popular (and I had witnessed its birth with a naive enthousiasm), there has been an impressive gold rush towards the quickest-and-dirtiest half-arsed cashgrabs on it.

But if anything, having them on GOG and curated is a good thing : allows me at last to simply block out the "hidden object" tag on steam recommendations, and just hope for GOG to filter them out and to signal me the ones actually worthy of attention.

Not a flawless strategy (I didn't block them out in order to not miss out on stiff like "Hidden Folks", which probably won't come on GOG anyway). But still, enough to justify blocking now the asphyxiating avalanche of lazy hidden objects clones on Steam, which was really setting me against the genre.

Hey, I'm actually pleased with this.

Quite bit different, but definitely fits comfortably on the shelf. I may not be a big fan of this genre per se, but it's good news to expand horizontally like this.

OK then.

I prefer these kinds of games come here than minimally-interactive pieces of software that simulate dating characters that visually appear to be below the age of consent as defined in most developed nations.

Well, to be fair Hidden Folks is actually one of a kind, and has nothing to do with the rest of the "hidden object" genre. I also wish it'd come to GOG someday.

As I said before, if you want to avoid the absolute trash just stick with anything published by Artifex Mundi. But some of their 3rd party games are rather lousy as well, so the only safe bet are the games actually developed by Artifex Mundi themselves.
