Deep space 6.

Halcyon 6: Starbase Commander, a compelling strategy/RPG with lots of space for base building, is available now for Windows, Mac, and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 15% launch discount.

Ever been to Halcyon 6? That's where a decommissioned starbase stands looming over the borders of Terran space, left behind by an enigmatic precursor race. An army of aliens is about to make its move against Earth, and Halcyon 6 will become our last hope of defense. Provided that you can upgrade, reinforce it, and bring it back in full working order, Commander.

Halcyon 6 lets you tap into the base's hidden potential by rebuilding and equipping its facilities, then manning them with the most talented crew in the galaxy. The surrounding star clusters are begging to be explored but only venture there if you're ready to tackle the turn-based challenges either with your spaceship or your crew. Perhaps the situation can be peacefully resolved through diplomacy? Or your new alien allies can offer their assistance, if you ask them nicely.

Restore Halcyon 6 to its former glory before you go seeking new challenges in nearby stars, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 15% launch discount will last until September 20, 12:59 PM UTC.

Lone_Scout: Waiting for my backer key too...
I think the way backer keys for GOG are distributed should be improved somehow. We always end up getting them one day (or more) after release.
Really?
Whenever I backed a game that came out on GOG (most recently Tahira), I got the key as soon as the game was released here, so I suspect the problem is on the devs' side. They're probably just swamped today and haven't found the time to send keys yet.

IAmSinistar: I suspect the lag is on the dev side. GOG provides ever how many free keys the devs need to fulfill their pledges, but most devs have a very ramshackle system for disbursing those keys. Probably just a list of all backers who requested a DRM-free key, which they then need to mail out one at a time.

An integrated system would be great, but I'm not sure on which side it would be implemented. And it would be a little more complex for GOG to do, because they'd have to expose user info to the devs in a way that the devs could link your KS identity with your GOG one. I suspect that the current mechanism is likely to stay.
I think that devs should provide backers gog key atleast one day early. No one could play game before release anyway.

Picard85: Thank you for your comment. I have contacted the developers and they have assured me they'll be removing the game from all distribution platforms. They weren't planning on it initially but when I told them of your distress they knew it was time to pack it up and go home.

micktiegs_8: They're clearly just wondering why there seems to be an overly increased trend on 'Pixelated' games as of late.

No need to bash them for asking.
Im getting tired that there always has to be an argument about Pixelated games. It doesn't change anything. The solution is as easy as "if you don't like it, don't buy it".

micktiegs_8: It is quite obvious that GOG has a high volume of 'pixelated games', and you'd have to be loyally ignorant, or just blind to not see it.
I wonder if anyone is actually keeping track of how many 'pixelated games' are there on GOG.

JMich? :P
Just bought it. This game has some horrible nearest-neighbour scaling issues when played at 1680x1050. Setting it 1280x720 changes that for a soft linear scaling (by the look of it).

I do think the devs should be timely about it, yes. The creators of Tahira, Moon Hunters, and We Happy Few all got me my keys very quickly. I'm guessing these folks are just overburdened at the moment. They seem to be scrambling in general, as the game is being released without the backer contributed content as well. That is apparently coming in a later patch, though they haven't gotten around to asking us for it yet, so it will probably be a while.

The developers have the backer keys and will be distributing them as quickly as possible.
Thanks!
Yeah, what about the soundtrack? Offering the whole package (like Steam *cough*) would be nice.

I'll just leave this here, shall I? Someone surely has use for it.
All this conflict hurts my feelz
It looks really bad. I couldnt find any nice points in pictures or comments so far. Has anyone played it and can tell us what it is about?

I personally like most of the look, though not crazy about the humans. But in general the style is attractive to me, closer to Shattered Planet than Orion Trail in terms of detail. But such things are down to personal likes, so what appeals to me is by no means any kind of standard.

As for the game, I'll be glad to share my impressions once I have my key and can download it. I'm cautiously optimistic that there will be a number of different things to do in the game, and I hope they are interesting.

wanderer_27: WTF is up with all these "Pixelated" games anymore?

You'd think this was the 80's or something - enough already

I was referring to Developers in general, not these particular Devs, and I'm not only referring to GOG releases - there has a been a flood of these Pixel games the past couple years.

Sorry, they look like crap - what you can make out from them.
Back in 80's/90's when Monitors/GPU's were pretty much limited to that it was understandable - but now, we're pushing 4k/8k Monitors and were pushing this blocky stuff out?

Guess, they're trying to make some kind of "Artistic" statement or something - lost on me, like that guy that Pee'd in a jar and called it "Art" . . . yeah, I'll pass.
