Big hero fix

Goliath, an island full of monsters ready to be punched by your hand-assembled robot, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and a 20% launch discount.

Oh man, another detachable saw blade? Your robo-giant doesn't need more murder-power, what he needs is extra mobility. Perhaps you can somehow modify him to zoom across the hostile terrain on this? That would be cool. But you'll need the appropriate blueprints, so better keep exploring.
Ever since you found yourself on this mysterious island, building your Goliath to fight off the monstrous inhabitants has been your priority. Thankfully, this procedurally-generated world is full of salvageable wreckage from past civilizations that you can use. The problem is, it's also become the battleground for several warring factions fighting over its resources. Could your custom-crafted Goliath be the one to decide the outcome of this brutal conflict?

Collect materials, build your unique Goliath and pit him against ferocious beasts, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 20% discount will last until May 19, 4:59 PM UTC.

Bavarian: An indie game with 3D graphics instead of pixels? That's a huge plus in my book.
Now if it just didn't look so... boring.

Marioface5: Yeah, I think it has potential but I get the feeling that this is an In-Development game disguised as a full release.

micktiegs_8: Similar to 8-Bit Armies?
Does 8-Bit Armies have that issue? I've never played it.

IronArcturus: "Goliath online!"
avatar
Celton88: Nice StarCraft reference!
I guess we all had the same reaction :)

It's an RTS with only one faction and promise of updates, some might call that incomplete.

Not just promise of updates. The new faction is coming in June with new skirmish campaign missions.

Niggles: "Procedurally Generated World: With procedurally generated environments, quests and events, no two games of Goliath will ever be the same."

Does this mean there is no end game ??
Maybe, maybe not. Also could be that the end game is procedurally generated, so always a bit different.

rgnrk: I'm glad you like it. I'm all for having here every interesting game we can. And I have a broad spectrum for interesting. This is not my kind of game, though. And I don't find it graphically appealing. I guess I lack any console nostalgia of any kind. Give me nice pixel art at any time, and storycentric rpgs and points & clicks. Or pretty and simple platforms. Or turn-based strategy. But action consoley 3D? Definitely not my thing. Of course, being a collector I will get it eventually at a big discount.

8BitGinno: Funny, I find the graphics appealing. Reminds me of Torchlight II.

I want to try this game out.. Hmm. Do I dare?
yes - dare it ;) - and then write a nice extensive review for us guys :P . I find that game actually quite interesting from a first look but i somehow lack the information to make a solid decision ^^ - The report from Marioface5 was somehow helpful but a) it was prealpha and b) he neither is totally convinced nor totally dislikes the game ^^ - well decisions decisions ^^ - maybe some pages will test it in the next few days
Looks like Dark Cloud 2 on the PS2.
That looks like it could be quite fun! And the art style is very attractive. Hopefully the soundtrack is just as good. I think I'll pick this up when my backlog gets an opening.
I was curious and spent the coins... Usually I wait for a demo before I buy a game, but I was sooo bored....

TL,DR: And I stayed bored.

The game looks really nice, like Torchlight as someone mentioned.
I think the controls are not really made for keyboard/mouse - I did not feel comfortable.
The "Procedurally generated environment" is made of several "islands" and you teleport between them.
But at least at the beginning the islands are really tiny with nothing to explore.
Animations are ok, combat is ok but could be a lot better.
Resource collection and crafting really look promising.

Think this is going to be quite the little gem. After some further polishing.

Sounds like don't starve mixed with metal fatigue. I like it!

Seems like it's a little unpolished so onto the wishlist for now.

MischiefMaker: Looks like Dark Cloud 2 on the PS2.
My thought exactly! I mean, the overall game doesn't seem similar, but the "sort-of cel-shaded" art style + crafting your own rickety combat robot out of cast-off parts made me think of...whatever the robot's name was in Dark Cloud 2. :P
