krakataul: Has anyone tried playing the game? How does it run, considering fairly low "Recommended system requirements"?
I've played it on Linux and it ran well. But I was using hardware beyond the recommended requirements.
God of War... damn I want to play it but I wish it was 75-80% discounted...

Maybe some day :)

ReynardFox: Why would we round 3.8 down to 3? It's close enough to 4 that it makes more relative sense to round up.
It's not even 3k. The absurd confusion comes from marketing BS that suddenly decided 4k (and only 4k) pixel count should be measured horizontally then 'compared' to everything else that has always been (and continues to be) measured vertically, ie, 1280x720 (HD) = 720p, 1920x1080 (FHD) = 1080p, 2560x1440 (QHD) = 1440p, etc, going all the way back to analogue TV's NTSC (480i) and PAL (576i). No one ever called them "1.2k, 1.9k, 2.6k" monitors or "0.7k" TV's. The closest real official name for 3840x2160 aka 2160p is simply "UHD". Ascribing "k" to count pixels is gibberish junk marketing unless the dimension being measured is actually consistent across resolutions.

ᛞᚨᚱᚹᛟᚾᛞ: This is why I created two specific definitions in my mind:
Lower case g gamer, the regular person who just plays Super Mario because he's a funny guy who goes -Wahoo- Wowie-Zowie.
Capitol G Gamer, the insufferable person who has made it their mission to try and make the world a worse place because how dare women have rights after the suffragette era, and how dare South Africa to have ended Apartheid?!

They wouldn't dare say it outright, but there are enough dogwhistles and callsigns to make it obvious with observation.
I hope by this you don't generally mean most gamers fit into these categories.

Some of us are Core gamers who want to have fun and be challenged and will definitely be more demanding and discerning on the challenge, the graphics, etc. Some definitely are more particular and notice differences some of us would not have noticed unless they are pointed out while other times the difference is so glaring one would have to be blind not to notice it. Oh and there is more mid where it is not noticeable unless you might have played the previous game or are familiar with whatever mass media the lore is based on.

bsmrk_95: It runs well enough for me (120fps, all settings maxed 1440p, DLSS off, 3080ti, Ryzen 9 5900X), ...
Glad to hear that GoW runs fine on low-end & dated hardware. ;-)

Yeah, that's lowercase, you play games like a regular person.

u2jedi: So you identify as a Marxist then.
I am so far left that I am practically a communist, and I disagree with what Sweet Baby Inc is doing. But can we get back to GoW, comrade?

bsmrk_95: It runs well enough for me (120fps, all settings maxed 1440p, DLSS off, 3080ti, Ryzen 9 5900X), but I'm pretty disappointed that it doesn't recognize my controller (Logitech F310). I also heard a complaint of it not recognizing Xbox controllers either.
avatar
Syphon72: That's weird because that same controller works for me with GOW.
I think the solution to bsmrk_95's problem is to switch from D- to X-input using the small switch at the back of the controller to make it work.
I remember the original trilogy on PlayStation. It was brutal as hell.

The new sequel (or should I say a reimagining?) didn't seem as good to me. For me, it's a father-son relationship simulator. "Bad Dad Simulator" with good story and fun RPG elements. With an infinite number of chests (which was very annoying). But still fun RPG.

"God of War Ragnarok" is a total fail which I wouldn't recommend to anyone. It was supposed to be called "God of SJW" or "God of Inclusivity". :\

My dream is to see a remaster of the original trilogy on PC one day. It's going to be a bomb!

Oh I completely agree, and I know it's just a stupid marketting gimmick, I was just pointing out how if we have to go with the gimmick name, how it rounds up easier than down.

Highly unlikely, unless they do full blown remakes, as it is we never got the first three Uncharted games because 'they're too old', and the OG God of War trilogy is a generation older still... Also i'd be pretty nervous about how much such remakes would change stuff for the fictional "modern audiences".

On the plus side, all the old GOW games emulate beautifully with RPCS3.

If anyone is curious about this Sweet Baby Inc thing this is a decent intro...

This all reminds me why I no longer spend much time in gaming forums.

I don't know how anyone could take Kotaku seriously at this point to begin with, but that article is the very definition of gaslighting, it's an extremely dishonest article designed to run defense for them, and the author tried to double down and made herself look like the unbelievable narcissist she truly is.

Nobody who fallows Kotaku has any business criticizing any source of information.
Seems to fly off the digital shelves, as it's shot up by about 120 (of 194) pages on the all-time bestsellers list in the last 24 hours.
