You have my wrench. And my pickaxe.

Gnomoria, a gigantic sandbox where you manage the lives of miniature gnomes, is now available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 50% launch discount.

Gnomes are widely considered as greedy, ingenious, often mischievous little devils. But they can sure build a mean city. Or an orc-killing contraption. And these are solid foundations for a thriving community which can eventually turn into a vast kingdom under your steady guidance. All you need to do is point them to the right materials, craft the best items, set cunning traps, and erect sturdy structures that your gnomes will be proud to call home. Every element of the procedurally-generated, sandbox environment is destructible and potentially usable, as long as you have the right gnome for the job.

Put your little citizens to work and help make Gnomoria the perfect place to live, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 50% launch discount will last until April 27, 12:59 PM UTC.

In the press:
"It's easy to get lost in designing the perfect little base for your gnomes" - Kotaku
"Insanely fun and highly addictive village management game" - Destructoid
"The more you put into Gnomoria, the more you get from it" - Pixel Perfect Gaming

Swonker: And the game in itself just seems to be an attempt to make Dwarf Fortress with graphics, but Dwarf Fortress is FAR more detailed and intricate in the core game, mainly because it doesn't have graphics.

EndlessWaves: The trouble with dwarf fortress isn't the lack of graphics, it's the lack of usability. How does this fare on that front?
It's got substantial improvements over DF. The ability to use a mouse and the isometric view which lets you see multiple layers at once are both immensely helpful, at least if you're new to gnomoria/DF. The graphics, while simple, also do a better job of communicating what's going on than DF's even with mods, in my opinion.

Darvond: Why does it look like the graphics were shamelessly lifted from StoneSense, the Dwarf Fortress visualiser?
Because Gnomoria is the tutorial for Slaves to Armok: God of Blood Chapter II: Dwarf Fortress

Although, It is fun enough to be a game in it's own right ;)

Well I don't need the tutorial, I've run my own forts before. :V
After purchasing the game and trying to launch it for the first time, it won't start. It showed up on task manager, but only briefly. I've reinstalled it, but the same thing happened. I can't play Gnomoria, please help :(

Are you using Comodo Firewall?

No I'm not. I meet all the system requirements too. It just doesn't work. No idea why.

Strange. Try contacting Support if you haven't already. If they can't help you to get the game working, you'll at least be able to get a refund.
So the game is finally released? I got it from somewhere and tested it ~2 years ago but there were some issues... I'll check what those little guys are up to now :)

Yes, that was the first thing I thought when I saw the screenshots.

Probably because it wants to be a gentler isometric DF?

Actually, I'm more concerned about GPL and/or licence violations.

Attached is what one average pre genned fort looks like. Along with a picture I took of the object testing arena. You can see the similarities and how one might be able to say, "You lout! You merely edited these things!"

But they didn't, as far as I know. All the code was developed independently, certainly, and the art looks different enough that I don't think it will be a problem. Tiny pixelated dwarfs and their homes are just going to look kind of similar, you know?
Very good game - please buy it and support the dev! :)

drewpants: With my good lady recently losing her job and the car deciding that life is just too much to be betting on with at the moment, I'll have to pass for now. It's a shame because I had never checked this out before and after seeing it, instantly decided I wanted to play it. One day...

Thank you - I hadn't intended to ask for a freebie (although the cynical forum user seem to disagree). I wont forget this act of kindness and will certainly repay the favour many times over when I can. Thank you LiquidOxygen80 - I salute you sir.

No problem. It's my way of paying forward all the times my friends hooked me up. :)
