A true blast from the past! In 1995, Disney Software and Buena Vista Interactive teamed up to bring Gargoyles for the Sega Genesis. This platformer was based on Disney's animated TV series with the same title, which was known for its dark and mature themes, complex characters, and engaging storytelling. The game quickly became an absolute gem thanks to its faithfulness to the source material and fun-packed gameplay.

Now, 28 years later, we’re gonna relieve those precious memories – Gargoyles Remastered is now available on GOG!

It is an artfully crafted revival of the ‘90s classic 16-bit side-scrolling platform adventure. Relive the epic journey of Goliath and the Gargoyles featuring enhanced visuals, animations, and SFX, all inspired by the acclaimed animated series. The world of Gargoyles comes to life with a level of detail that will thrill fans of the animated series and retro gaming enthusiasts alike. Experience classic gameplay that stays authentic to its predecessor while including new features such as achievements, gameplay rewind, and more!

Use stone-crushing strength, scale stone towers and buildings with razor-sharp claws, and glide through the air as you master mid-air attacks and hand-to-hand combat in non-stop action to save the world from destruction.

Seamlessly toggle in real-time between graphics inspired by the animated series and classic 16-bit mode true to the original game.

Relive the story of Goliath and the Gargoyles’ battle against the evil Eye of Odin with new animations and sound effects inspired by the Gargoyles animated series.

Tailor your gameplay with modern features including instant rewind, wide-screen presentation, and achievements!

Experience the original soundtrack, remastered and optimized for a more immersive adventure.

All of that is now possible with Gargoyles Remastered!
I like it. Played the original. However, will wait for sale.
Not a fan of the new art style, but the modern features make it tempting.

(Edit) and before it starts, YES I KNOW you can play with the old graphics style.

I only watched the show back then, so why ? Is it a nostalgia thing ? At least to me it looks like they tried to capture the art style of the series (no critique, just curious).

@GOG
Does it have Achievements or is this the usual cut & paste lapsus? Both texts, here and on the games store page, mention them but they are not listed in the game features section.

I loved the show back in the day too; Shame it was discontinued, though when they did the Goliath Chronicles it showed they didn't care that much. I'm not sure why, but Disney had some neon cyberpunk hyper-popout coloring style they used, for either box art, comics, or as a poster image in the few cases the tape didn't start right away. Which might be interesting to have as a coloring style but

I'd honestly have been more interested in a new gargoyles game, rather than a remake/remaster of a platformer; Something on par with Aliens vs predator, or Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines, with some quests that were unique to the gargoyles theme and world. And also not being stuck only as Goliath. Having some missions as Demona, or any of the other main characters, Lexington in particular would have had a more stealthy approach.

Or, maybe go further and pick up where Wiseman's plots and fanfiction work continued with the TimeDancer series, Dark Ages or other things.
I cannot accept that this game is without Galaxy achievements, implement them immediately.
Bought it, has no achievements.

here is me hoping at least the MegaDrive - rom is somwhere in there

Edit: uses the System language, with no ingame option to change that, grrr

Although labeled v1.01.00 in Galaxy and offline installers, in-game it says the version number is v0.6.5, I'm not sure if we're actually on the correct version or if they just have an unusual version numbering system. =\

It's too clean, like a flash-based, f2p mobile game. The original art style has a grit to it... Ambience... Character. A good example of updating, yet keeping the style of the source material is Shadow Gangs. While not a sanctioned sequel or remake, it takes that original art style and gives it an updated look you would expect to find in and arcade game produced in 2023.

Shame on you GOG, you're European publishers, no excuse for not calling Sega's console a Mega Drive.

Also cool the game is getting a re-release.
